It could have been worse - they could have gotten Michael Bay to direct. That's what happened to The Island - apparently they fired the original screenwriter so that they could 'Bay-ify' the script.

No coincidence that the first 30 minutes are more interesting than all of the action ####### that kicks in afterwards.

I never knew that. So Bay isn't totally to blame for ripping of Parts: The Clonus Horror after all.

Although it's bad, The Island does have a small place in my heart though, as I watched it with my kid sister the day before coming over here.

Midtown Manhattan doesn't lend itself well to high speed car chases

Bourne Ultimatum is pretty good - though much of the gadgetry is completely implausible. Government agencies are in no way that efficient or effective.
