Did anyone get the police check and medical before packet 3

I was wondering if anyone in Saskatchewan in particular was able to do the police check and medical before the packet 3 arrived. Is there a form that they need? I would just like to get going on this since from what I read the only Dr in Sask on the list is 3 hours away and will want us to visit twice. Thanks.

I'm not from SK, but I did get the police check before Package 3 arrived (which is good for a year from what I understand). I also got the long form of the Birth Cert. as well. I tried to collect as much info as I could that wasn't quite as time sensitive as the medical. I did wait to book the Medical after i got the package. Just my 2 cents.

You're correct, Michelle. The police check is good for one year.

Personally, I would wait for Package 3 before scheduling the medical(s). They will need the covering letter from that package to process them. Plus all the passport photos you'll need to bring. The biggest thing to do when you receive Package 3 is to return the checklist right away, even if you haven't done everything. That will initiate the scheduling of the interview.

I got the first Police Certificate last September- back then (before I found VJ) I was clueless about immigration and didn't know how long it would take. I was also told by someone to get the fingerprinting done and send it to Ottawa- which I did. That took a few months to come back to me. Now I know the prints were not needed unless I had any type of record. Live and learn. I did go and get a new Police Certificate a few weeks before my Interview. I know the other one was still good- but I wasn't sure if I would need it again down the road so I didn't want to the first one to expire out.

I also jumped the gun on the Medical- I phoned Montreal and asked if I could get the Medical done with the I 129F receipt- she said yes. I booked it and went- I was already in with the Doctor before the receptionists knew I didn't have the right paperwork. They held my results for me and gave me my lab sheets and said when I get the paper with my case number and medical info- to phone them and go ahead to get the Lab work. This was the only good experience I had with that Doctors office. It worked out for the best in my case- I got an Interview 9 days after I faxed in in my package 3- 9 days seems pretty rushed when you are getting ready for the interview. I got the Lab work and luckily all my results were back and the Doctors office had my medical package ready on the Tuesday afternoon (I was booked to leave early Wednesday morning)

Yep, you can get your police certificate any time, but the medical can't be completed until you have a file number at the consulate. which means you pretty much have to wait on package 3 to do your medical.

You can do both before packet 4.

Police certificates do not require a packet 4 in the least, and for your medical, the doctor usually needs only your case #, which you get with packet 3, not 4.

I was wondering this too. How do I go about getting the police record? It's for my husband. He has a record, from way back when he was a teenager. Will he need fingerprints for that? And how does he go about getting them?

Criminal record checks with fingerprints often take longer to process. Depending on where you currently live, you can go to a Commissionaires to get fingerprinted, but I'd definitely call your local RCMP detachment for more info.

P.S. So, I just follow the info on that link to get the fingerprints and police check? That is all I will need for the required police check for the application?

Thanks for the replies. my husband has his police check done and we have the medical booked for Sept 7th. packet 3 is most likely on its way by now, but the receptionist said all they need is the case #. We are going to the Dr in Calgary.

All we need now are the photos and we'll be good to go! I guess I should get those done before the medical!!

If you're going to the medical before you receive Package 3, don't forget to take your passport. I watched a K-3 couple turned away when they could not produce them. They were looking at a 3-4 hour return trip to go and get them.... or reschedule another appointment. They went to get them but I have no idea whether they made it or not.

The Dr. I went to in Halifax did not (at that time) need my package 3 letter -- although I did have a copy of the notice Jerry received from NVC stating my petition was forwarded to Montreal. I was fortunate to schedule things so well, that I had my medical results the next day after submitting my checklist and forms.

The Dr in Calgary has a nice automated answer machine with all the info that we need to bring along. For the medical services it will cost $260. For the courier to send the results to us in Sask is $20. The vaccinations will cost aprox $90. The receptionist reccommended booking as soon as possible since she has heard of people getting notice that their interview will be a week away. It's nice to imagine that happening so quick... but we shall see. WHo knows, all things are possible with God. We shall see.
