My wifes I-130 was approved last month. My wife contacted the NVC to find out the status of her paperwork and they told her that they sent it off and that her interview is going to be in Montreal. My wife is from Edmonton, Montreal is all the way on the other side of the country why would they not send her to Vancouver?

I just checked the Montreal wait time for interview is 5-7 months. Vancouver wait time is 2-5 days.

My wife's I-129F was also approved today. Not sure what to do at this point.

Now I've only heard this through the grapevine - nothing official, but all I130s go to MTL and K3s can go to either MTL or Vancouver. So hopefully with the K3 things will go to Vancouver for you guys. We are in Sask. so we're hoping also to go to Vancouver.

It is very official...

Cr1 interviews are always done at Montreal and K1 and K3 visas interviews are done either in Vancouver or Montreal depending on where you live....

i am from the Vancouver, BC area and I had to go all the way to Montreal for my CR1 visa interview... it wasn't that bad...

I belive this happened to another VJ'er awhile back!! They were doing a k1 or k3 and lived out west, BUT somehow they were scheduled to goto Mtl!! I believe they just emailed Mtl and got everything transferred to Van!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yup, her CR-1/IR-1 interview will be in Montreal (no choice in that matter). If you continue to pursue the K3, it will be in Vancouver. You've still got several months of processing the CR-1/IR-1 through the NVC though even before it gets to Montreal.

At this point, the K3 will go to the NVC and then directly to Vancouver. So given the current timeframes, probably 2 months for an interview from today provided she returns the checklist and other required docs to Vancouver in a speedy fashion.

The CR-1 will be a few months at NVC and then waiting for an interview at Montreal. They've been agonisingly slow this summer but previously they've scheduled around 2-4 months from case complete (longer this past spring/summer though).

Good luck deciding which route you'll take. You could always take both though... get her to the U.S. faster on the K3 and fly back to Montreal for the CR-1 interview. Sure beats doing AOS.

back in 2005, I waited around 2 months... from case complete at NVC to date of my interview ...( this was for the CR1 visa interview)...

i guess they have slowed down a lot since then...

I think the last of the 2 month waiting for CR-1 interviews group was Our Mao and Riblet earlier this year. Then interviews just ground to a halt...

I noticed that you said that you just checked the Montreal wait time for interviews.

How/where do you go to to check the wait time?

I am a US citizen and am sponsoring my mother for her Green Card. She is awaiting her interview in Montreal, and I haven't been able to find anyone, or any website, that will give guidance on the wait time.

Thanks for your help.
