How to send DS-230/Best postal method?

I have downloaded the DS-230 form and I'm filling it out for my husband. I need to send it to him as quickly as possible. What postal method did you guys use to send it to your spouse's country? (if you had to, as I know there are some people with their spouse's in their country during this process)

I was thinking just send it USPS but would that take too long? I am hoping to send it to him overnight (or AT LEAST get it to him priority) and then he will sign it and send it back to me with his police certficate, etc. overnight (or priority) as well.

Does anyone know what is the best method to use? FedEx? DHL? Other? And also, does anyone know if I can pay ahead of time for him to be able to send it back to me? Would I include one of those envelopes from the post office inside the one I send to him?

I'm a bit stumped here lol. (as if you cannot tell!) :lol: Hope I didn't confuse anyone either!

I used USPS Express Mail with great results - for me, it got a 13 pound package to my fiancee India in 4 days not including the time it took in India customs. Also, they were very cost effective.

Keep in mind USPS has many different levels of service.

Their fastest is Global Express Guaranteed.

Next comes Express Mail.

Then comes Priority Mail.

Then comes First Class Mail.

Depending on what your timeline is, choose the appropriate level of service.

Megan, this is what I did. My husband went to a cafe internet place in Colombia since doesn't have internet service at home. While he was there we both pulled up the DS-230 and filled it out together over the phone, you can also use MNS messenger if it's easier for you to type the answers for him. He then printed out 3 copies of the DS-230 just in case. I had wired him the money for him to send me the DS-230 and all the other documents and he mailed them to me via DHL. It was easier, faster and I knew all his answers were correct since we filled it out together.

I have also used the USPS to send him stuff, it works great and fast up until it gets to Colombia. Once it does, the Colombian postal service takes care of it and that's a huge gamble since their mail system is horrible in every way. The USPS is not responsible for any package you send once it leaves the US.

If you want you can use James' shortcuts to generate your own as soon as the NVC tells you that they will mail out on a certain week. I know several people have used it and had no problems with it. Or you can wait for it which takes about 2 weeks from the moment they say they will mail it.

Thanks Diana! I think I'll just wait for it. I'd rather use the original one to be on the safe side. (I haven't done any shortcuts at all throughout this process except now with the DS-230 and sending it to my husband.)

I was looking at your timeline as well and if have your case completed by the end of this month, you will definitely get an interview for October. The NVC schedules interviews with the embassy the second week of the month for the following month. If your case gets completed too close to the second week, you will get a late October interview. If it's way before the second week, you will get an early October interview.
