Do you think being of the same nationality speeds or helps the whole K-1 Fiance process? My fiance and I are the same nationality, there is a year age difference. We are the same nationality but from 2 different areas and me online in a chat room.

Also does having a good income help the process also? I do well over 60K plus bonus. Should I show savings to be safe or should I just use income.

I have not filed yet and am nervous about the timefram it will take.

THanks

your income will just prove that you can provide for your fiance and she will not need public assistance in the future , wont make a differance in speed to get the process done faster , neather will nationality make a diferance . if your U.S citizen but by birth another countries nationality and your fiance is your nationality but is not U.S citizen , sorry you have to go like everyone else here K1 , being wealthy and same blod nationality wont make a differance good luck Lona

Speed up the process? No. But it may help you avoid AR or AP. Which I guess could mean the process would be sped up.

If your income meets the minimum requirements, than that is all you have to show. Its not necessary to show savings or other assets.

Nationality be it the same or different won't speed up the process.

What is AR & AP mean? Yes, I am a US Citizen by birth. Fiance does not speak english, we communicate in Albanian over the web and telephone. Does lack of english a problem? I am fluent in Albanian and can also read and write the language.

As long as a couple can communicate in any language it is fine. Nationality does not speed things up.

AP/AR= Administrative Processing / Administrative Review.

This happens frequently in 3. world countries and in a lot of embassies routinely. At any stage the case goes into AP/AR for review like background checks, security checks, document verification and home investigations. This happens mostly after the interview at the embassy level but sometimes

occurs at the NVC or USCIS level.

There is no timeframe, no explanation and we call it the black hole. It can last a few weeks to months or longer. We have been in AP for 8 month now.

Search for others from your country and you can get an idea time wise but each case is unique.

In the meantime read, read, read the forums.

Best wishes !

Thanks, I am new. But I dont follow what you are saying? 3rd world country? What are they looking for or think they are looking for by performing more background, security checks and document verification?

Also what do you mean my home verification? what will they find at the persons home?

There are two things. One is security related, which is usually the issue for people going through predominantly Muslim countries. They don't want a terrorist using a marriage visa to get into the US.

The other is more specifically fraud related. Cases of visa fraud are much more likely to happen from a third world country. They look for signs that may indicate that the relationship is fraudulent. One red flag may not get your case into AR/AP, but several probably will. They look for anything including family relationships (some fraudulent marriages are arranged by relatives), age difference outside of cultural norms, no common language, infrequent communication, and more.

AP or AR can delay the visa issuance for weeks if not months and in rare cases years. There isn't much you can do about it either. For some places its pretty routine.

In African or Middle East and Asian countries etc. economically depressed countries so to speak, high document fraud is the reason to review

and investigate in depth. Home investigations are sometimes done to verify a bona fide relationship at the beneficiaries home or

neighborhood. An investigator will just ask some questions about the couple. Doesn't happen often though.

I would not worry too much but I also would not expect to sail through your visa journey in 6 months.

Hope for a smooth ride but be ready for delays so you won't feel like the rug has been pilled out from under you.

Go to the MENA ( Middle East regional forum ) there you find a lot of AP info if you worry about the time frame.

Go to portal on the top of the page and to the regional forums to find others with fiance's from your country to best advice you and give an insight into your specific embassy's rythm. Every embassy does things a little different.

Relax , read VJ and be ready for an occasional bump in the road and you will be ok. For support find others who have recently filed.
