Help with Q: for a K1 obtaining a SSN

My wife is here on a K1, we filed AOS on 20/Jan. We didn't apply for her SSN during the 90 days as I didn't want to deal with doing a name change.

Obviously, we don't yet have her EAD. Can we apply for her SSN now, or do we have to wait (for her EAD? for her AOS as her K1 is technically expired?)?

If we can apply now, what's the best way to do it, I mean, any tips for when we visit the SS office?

You can apply anytime, just that it will be denied without the EAD card or I-551.

At this point if you need a number for taxes you will need to submit a W-7 to IRS along with your tax forms to get her an ITIN.
