Had AOS interview: our experience and question?

On Tuesday, my husband and I arrived in Newark for our 1:30 apt. We got there early, and got breakfast. Out meeting was at 1:30, but we went there at 12:30. It was a bad idea because even though our apt. was for 1:30, we were the last case of the day, and we were not seen until 3:30 or so. After 3 hours of waiting, we were called together, and followed a 30-year oldish female African-American officer back to her desk. The interview was probably half an hour. The first question she asked after swearing us in was "Am I dealing with a real marriage here?" which was so open-ended and candid that it threw me off. I offered her any evidence she wanted to see, but she said no, that she just wanted me to explain if we were a genuine couple. I told her we were. Other weird questions (meaning questions besides the usual ones asked that I wasn't prepared for) were as follows:

how long it takes to fly to husband's country (even though I haven't been there ever)

why we got married so young (we are 21 and 23)

how I plan on bringing the two sides of our family together (I had mentioned we are having a more elaborate marriage ceremony in my spouse's country after we graduate school)

In the middle of these questions, she asked the no questions to my husband, but forgot most of them, and even forgot the phrasing of one of them, and admitted that she was getting tired. Throughout the interview she didn't really make it clear who she was addressing the questions towards, and she didn't seem to care when we answered for each other a few times. After the questions, she said that she was going to take our case home and make her decision then, which was a weird surprise. Without asking for any of our evidence specifically, she asked us to pick out whatever we thought she might want and whatever pictures we wanted to give her. She didn't really pay attention to us while we were doing this, and didn't seem to mind that it was taking a long time for us to get it all together. My husband and I gave her copies of pretty much everything, because we had brought quite a lot, and we had taken so much time to prepare for this interview. Never once in the whole interview did she address the fact that my husband was out of status at the time we got married. She took the I-94 from my husband's passport and put some message in there to replace it, but we didn't get a stamp, because she still hadn't looked through the file. I would describe her as being very nice, but also very efficient. I think she was charmed by our case for some reason, so she wasn't as tough as she could have been.

Now my questions:

This morning, I received an e-mail notification saying the green card is being printed and that we should expect it in 30 days. Does the green card really come in thirty days? We are moving soon, so if we don't get it in this time period, it will be quite a hassle. Also, do they mail a notice when the green card is done being printed and is going to be mailed? Does this mean the name check was done and okayed?

If you received the card production email, then yes, your name check has been cleared.

In my case, it took 11 days for my green card to arrive in the mail (after I got the card production email).

In addition to your green card, you will also receive a welcome letter and approval notice.

Oh and remember, when you move you have to notify USCIS (change of address form AR-11).

Do people have to notify USCIS when they move even after the AOS is complete? I know that most people receive a conditional two-year green card so it's not really "over", but does USCIS want to know when someone moves if they're not currently dealing with them? Am I going to have to notify USCIS every time my husband and I move for the rest of our lives?

Yes, a permanent resident/ green card holder is required to notify USCIS about a change of address.

Also don't forget that if the person/people who sponsored you on the I-864 moves, they must also fill out a change of address form.

Ugh, that sucks. Not that we have anything to hide, and I don't intend to move a lot if we can find a nice place to own rather than keep renting, but still... the thought of reporting to someone every time we move feels so penalizing, so Orwellian. Plus, statistically, the more paperwork mailed in, the higher the chance of something getting "lost" on the way to (or even at) USCIS.
