DCF in Bangkok, Recieved Packet 3, What's next?

I filed my I-130 last monday and my wife got packet 3 today! (just 9 days!) Unfortunately, I'm in India and won't be back to her to help her out for a couple weeks. However, I've got tons of questions and am looking for help:

My I-864 form:

-What address should I put?

On my I-130, I put my address in Bangkok. I'm moving back to america to live with my father, and my wife will live there too as soon as she gets her visa. Do I put my father's address, which will be my domicile in America? Or do I put my address in Bangkok, which was on the I-130 and one that i will stay at for another 6 weeks?

-Household size:

I imagine that this answer depends on the answer to my first question, regarding the address that i put down on my I-864.

If the answer is my father's address, is my household size then me, my wife, and my father (3)? Or just me and my wife (2)? or just me (1)? i don't support my father. My father does not support me. My wife doesn't live there yet. (Nor do I for that matter)

If the answer is my address in Bangkok, then do I put my wife's family and me (6). Or just me and my wife(1)? What exactly is this related by birth phrase mean? Does it mean my wife and children (none)? Or anyone directly related to me and my wife (such as brother, sister, and parents)

Current Employment:

I just finished my work contract in Bangkok of 2.5 years. I'm am officially unemployed right now. However, I have accepted a scholarship to start a PhD. program in America in August 2006. I will start to recieve my stipend in monthly payments starting in august. This means no paychecks or employers from now until august.

Do I put unemployed?

Do I put my last job (which ended last friday Mar 31)?

Do I put my future job (starting this august 20069?

Or do i put a combination of these like:

Unemployed + added note explaining my future "job" as a PhD. student with a note from my professor/advisor

I'm not sure if I qualify since my stipend starts at $16,000 ( but will probably be topped up to $18,000 by my professor). So just in case, I got my sister to be a joint sponsor.

Setting the interview date:

Do I need to send a complete packet 3 before setting an interview date? Or should I set up the interview now, and gather all the documents while waiting to get the interview?

Well that's it for now. I'd appreciate any help, especially if you've done DCF in bangkok, so I have an idea of how long it will take to get the interview. Ideally, I'd like my wife to make it to america by the middle of June. Am I being overly optimistic about the time table?

You ask some good questions.

Your I-864 will be submitted to the consulate by your wife at her visa interview - where will you be at that time? Or a slightly different consideration, where will you be when you sign and date the I-864? Keep in mind that the consulate can be a bit sticky about your domicile, but from what you've posted I think you are likely to be OK in that regard.

As to your employment, you either are or you aren't. From what you've posted, you aren't.

Household size is made up of several categories of people that are asked about on separate lines of the I-864, then the lines are added together to calculate the household size. Read each line and answer the question as asked.

The consulate, not you, will set the interview date. They will do so when they have received a DS-230-I and signed checklist of readiness from your wife. K-visa interviews seem to be taking place about 2 months after application these days (it has been as long as 3 months in the past). The immigrant visa interviews may be about the same, since the IV unit handles both.

Have you looked at the immigrant visa application information on the consular pages of the embassy in Bangkok's web site? There is some good information there.

Well, my wife sent back the checklist and she has an interview in less than 2 weeks. However, I still haven't found the answers for a few things:

1) Household size: I'm going to assume my household will be for my address in america. Right now, my father lives there alone. He's a doctor, so he's self-employed and definitely financially independent. My wife and I will live there with him and that will be our "permanent" residence (until we find a new permanent resident).

My question is simple and relates to this in the form:

1. Number of persons (related to you by birth, marriage, or adoption) living in your residence, including yourself (Do NOT include persons being sponsored in this affidavit.)

Is my father related to me by birth?

I know that I am related to him by birth, but i'm not sure if he's related to me by birth.

This has been brought up tons of times I know, but no one ever seems to give a clearcut, reliable answer, like one that I would get from a lawyer. So, if you know for sure, please give me an easy to understand response. That would be of great help right now.

Secondly, does anyone know where to get the medical exam form for the embassy in Bangkok and what hospitals they deal with? I have found a site with this before, but I wasn't sure if it was the most current and official document.

Thanks again for reading. This board has been quite helpful and we've gotten pretty far in the process in just 3 weeks, when we first filed, without paying a lawyer 1 baht.
