Now I feel sick. We only have 3 weeks to get ready. All advice, please, as to what to bring as far as money, forms. Thanks, I can't think straight. I am gonna be there Sept. 21. I can't imagine that he might be able to come home with me 3 weeks later. Debbie and Hamid

Hi Debbie,

Congratulations and good luck!!

Since I have it very fresh, I can give you my suggestions to minimize your stress.

I think I would start by helping him fill out all the forms. Especially DS-156 because that one has to be done online and cannot be saved. So he needs to have a printer connected to the computer. i followed the vj samples, and it wasn't too hard. If he goes to a cyber cafe, he should bring his passport with him because he needs info from there. If he is still waiting for his passport to come, then I don't know if he can do it yet and add that info later. i don't think it allows you to do that.

Next he has to get all his certificates done and translated. In Morocco, it seems to be an easy thing to do that can be taken care of in a couple of days. Hopefully he has lived in the same time all his life. Otherwise, he has to get police certificates ( and court certificates???) from the other cities where he has lived since he was 16.

In the meantime, what I did, I put together a folder with emails that my fiance had sent me. he has my password so he could retreive all the emails from that folder and print them himself. This saved us a lot of money and worries. Same thing with chats, phone records and sms records. He accessed all from his computer and printed everything.

I also took screen shots of some messenger conversations, so they can see that they are real.

I had given him all my tax records, letter of employment and paystubs on my last trip. He printed the last one himself . But they never asked for any of that at the interview.

He will need money for the medical, about $110, the visa $100, 2 trips to casa ( one for medical another for interview) and probably he will have to sleep there 2 nights: one night per trip. For the medical , he called and got the appointment for the same week, so it is possible to do with 3 weeks left.

Photos: I brought an album on my last trip and my sweetie printed 56 and arranged them by trip. Pay attention to this!! The CO looked at all of them.

He bought a folder and labels to have everything organized. He did it all by himself and this gave him a lot of confidence for the interview. he knew he was well prepared. He told me he was the one who had the most stuff.

I cannot think of anything else, but if you have any questions, please let me know,

Please make sure that he knows all the info about you in the forms that you filled before: I-129 and 325. They ask a lot about previous marriages and ex husbands. Most of the questions are taken from these forms.

Best ,

Sara
