Interesting viewpoint..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I think there is ample evidence out there that the US is heading towards a similar catastrophe. Irrespective of which party is in office, it is time to reinvest in America and on Americans. The biggest issue is people admitting there is a problem with the current way of thinking and the way things are done.

As a conservative I strongly believe you cannot leave health, education or safety in the hands of the free market or lobbyist.

I personally think America (and Texas in particular) started going to hell in a breadbasket when everything everywhere both private and especially governmental started being bilingual only in English/Spanish. At the local Bank of America the abundance of Spanish signs is annoying enough to be distracting. The local driver's license office is a maze of bilingual signs and announcements in English and Spanish.

I'm 51 years old and it didn't used to be that way and it never should have ever happened. It just set up all the mass illegal immigration problems we face today. Is it any wonder that roughly 80% of illegal aliens originate from Spanish speaking countries?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Your right. And you know why. Every other developed country is becoming a knowledge based economy, as is the US. Yet the US is importing more and more unskilled workers who barely have a middle school education daily. I have never ever heard of any other nation importing poverty on such a large scale without any repercussions.

Is the real problem that we sent soooo many jobs to other countries? If we loose all of our ability to be self reliant what will happen? Every great empire has fallen throughout history, the US is very young compared to some of the others?

They also did not know any better. The country's ailing infrastructure, which is literally falling apart, can be fixed. It is sad to see us building homes overseas while 8 million Americans lose theirs. Sad to see illegal immigrants steal jobs from the 45,000,000 Americans living in poverty. Sad to see employers profiteering off illegal immigrants and short changing other hard working Americans while they drive $100,000 cars and pay next to no taxes.. It is stuff like this, stuff that the American people can change, that is leading to a Rome style destruction.

Republics don't die, they just turn into empires when no one's looking. We could use a period of nouveau isolationism and to stop suckling at the teat of big oil.

That is the thing. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue. This is an American issue. With each party as equally to blame as one another. While the rest of the world moves forward the US is literally falling apart. Half the neighborhoods are turning into run down crime havens; while we argue about Iraq and other pointless #######.. Anyone who disagrees this view seriously needs to travel to other developed nations.

This is how Republics become Empires

Isn't he a left wing socialist. Funny how the people who are apparently for the poor always turn into power hungry dictators..

I don't think those labels are really very meaningful once someone has taken steps to dismantle the national constitution.

Look what political party Hitler was a member of originally - I doubt very much that socialists would find much common ground there.
