Now that I am looking at this paper, I see that it is a refusal worksheet for office use only. maybe they order SAO donkeys on a lot of people, but they give them a different paper, not a worksheet for office use only. Now I wonder what will happen if she gave my fiance the wrong paper.

No luck with photobucket, I'll keep trying

Sabia - you might be holding the CASA VJ equivilent of the the Holy Grail!

DOHHHHHHH --- SOMEBODY SCREWED UP AT THE CONSULATE TODAY ...... LOL!!! WE ALL WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE!!!

THAT IS TOO FUNNY -- Maybe you are correct and we are all getting SAO Donkey's and we just dont know it .... its all a mystery!!

Did you try to save it as a JPEG?

You should be able to post it as a picture like that! YOu know come to think about it .... when my husband scanned it over to me I had to cut the entire pic into a word document and then save it like this.... maybe that will work as it will reduce the size of the file.... then yo ucan just attach it as normal.

Good Luck

Hahahahahaha

This is our turn to

Now I'm really scared, this paper should have stayed there. Is it safe for me to post it publicly? I don't want to mess up and get in big trouble.

And what about my fiance'ss file? Are they going to know what to do with it without this paper?

This is interesting stuff. But if he did get the wrong paper, I hope someone knows to start those clearances anyway.

I ran across an article that says all foreign nationals go through Visas Donkey clearance. It also says name checks are performed by inputing just the consonants of a name, and if the consonants match and the date of birth is the same or close, you have a hit. That may be old news, but it's new to me.

Since they said you'd hear back in a month or so, it does sound like the standard name check. I might be tempted to contact Casa and see if they need that paper back though! Maybe this is how files get lost...

Good luck (F)

That was a great link. Here's an excerpt.

Common Names

Of all of the security clearance delay characteristics, this is both the most surprising and sometimes the least predictable. Every FN goes through a name check clearance (“Visas Donkey”). The name is inputted into the system only with the consonants (not the vowels) in the person’s name. If someone else with the same name and the same or fairly close date of birth appears in the system, there is a “hit” which needs to be resolved in Washington. Through no fault of the FN’s own, other than that he might have a common name in his country, the sometimes long delay may prevent the FN from returning to the United States.

So...the Donkey is the name check .

If the CO had handed my Moroccan hubby a paper with "donkey" written on it, she would have received a very direct question. ;) Dude's a speed reader.

Well, he just saw the word "refusal" spelled out in front of his eyes. That was enough to make him stop reading. I don't think he read donkey until later.

VISA Donkey, It sure is a pain in the donkey.....

Oh, I hope my post didn't come out wrong -- I wondered about that right after I sent it. I know you and your SO have had a shock and are in the dark. I hope you are beginning to relax, but the wait for security checks isn't an easy part of the process at all. I made a weak attempt at a joke, since "donkey" is pretty insulting in Morocco. I'm very sorry if I was insensitive.

It does sound like he was supposed to be handed a 221(g) and was given an internal document instead by mistake. Knowing that for sure might go a long way toward easing your minds.

Best wishes to you both.

I just wanted to add that my husband has the 'actual' folder his file was in, in Casa. It's a pink file with labels on the top and the sides with his name, DOB, Case # & a scan bar code. They actually wrote on the outside of this folder notes regarding his security checks.

This is what it says:

His case #

221g

Condor

Condor (scratched out)

5/5/06 ct donkey

5/19/06 donkey done

5/19/06 ct

SAO pending in NIV 7/?1/06

Then some initials in a circle

on the inside of the folder it has his phone # written

All I can say is they DO send off for the Donkey check! I don't know if I would say it is standard, but I have proof they request it. Our AP took 5 months and 1 day, so IMO, and from what DOS told me, it is a more in depth security check than I guess the normal standard checks.

I would not panic. I don't think that was a denial, just a more in depth check.

This is interesting. I wonder if the second notation by 5/19 indicates that there was a hit when the donkey check was completed, so additional checks were ordered then? I guess there's no way to know, but it's intriguing to see the timeline written out like this.
