There's a whole story behind this that none of us will never know. To paint her with one brush over the other is a bit hasty. Given what I know about her, other than falsifying her ss#, it sounds to me like she wasn't going around and doing criminal activity, but actually working jobs.

She was afforded due process under the law. She was given a lawful order by a court of law. She evaded that order. More than once. Shows me that she has no interest in complying with or respecting our laws, our courts or our people. This lady clearly thinks she is above it all. Time the arm of the law shows her that it ain't so.

If you feel somehow superior by doing so, I think that would be a yes. It's just not something I think is right, to pick on people. Policies, fine, but individuals, for whatever reason you can come up with to justify it, no.

However, this one person is neither better nor worse than the hundres/thousands of others in the same situation.

She's arguably worse than the rest because she is brazen in her contempt for the law.

Exactly. And it's not "gang" mentality simply because we all agree.

Why do you feel she deserves some kind of break?

Can someone please explain the "sanctuary" part to me?

What is it about this "church" that makes it a "sanctuary"? And why is it more "dangerous"

for her to go outside?

Why can't the police just kick down the church doors and drag her off to jail?

hunchback of notre dame ring any bells? (pun intended, even tho bad)

but seriously:

Part of a broader anti-war movement positioned against U.S. foreign policy in Central America, by 1987 440 sites in the United States had been declared "sanctuaries" open to migrants from this region. These sites included university campuses and cities. From the 1980s continuing into the 2000s, there also have been instances of churches providing "sanctuary" for short periods to migrants facing deportation in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, and Canada, among other nations. From 1983 to 2003 Canada experienced 36 sanctuary incidents.

i cant speak for the others, but i dont feel superior... i am just advocating that the law and its enforcement be followed... im not giddy with joy or jumping up and down excited... just expressing my opinion (which i am allowed to have) that someone who has repeatedly broken the law should have to face the consequences...

I don't have any more or less sympathy for this individual, I just don't think anyone deserves to be judged in this way, it's very wild west.

Well stated! To Illegally come into our country willingly violate federal laws shows she has no respect nor intentions of obeying the laws of this nation,

She shoul dbe arrested and her son should be sent back home with her so she can care for him instead of putting the burden of her And her families care on LEGAL law abiding Tax paying, legal working residents & Citizens of the USA.

um, other criminal activity would included crossing the border a second time after being deported and evading a second deportation

how many laws does someone need to break before its ok to actually enforce the penalty(ies) for breaking said laws?

Well, as I mentioned before, Abolitionists willingly participated in slaves leaving their masters, which at the time was breaking the law. Whether you agree with her justifications, the fact is that people have in the past broken laws that they felt were injust. With the Abolitionists, we now consider their acts heroic.

Exactly-

Face the consequences of her actions those consequences may very well be deportation, you commit the crime do the time or face the penalty.

What kind of example is she setting for her son? teaching him its ok to break federal laws & use religion as a crutch or shield. Not only disregard for the laws of USA but disrespect for the church. How disgusting!

At any given time, there are hundreds of thousands of fugitives out there. Law enforcment typically pics them up one (or maybe a few) at a time. As such, they are all singled out when their day comes. Hence, she wouldn't be treated better or worse than any other fugitive. Besides, what exactly is the alternative? Let them all lose? Reward the fugitives for their open contempt for the law?

Just allow the system to do it's business then. You don't need a pole to decide what 'you personally' would like to see happen to 'one individual' Which is back to my original point I believe.

Utter BS that teeters on racism. Simply because one willingly defies a law or set of laws that they find injust doesn't equate to that of a criminal mindset. History is full of examples. Her son is a U.S. Citizen, how about we deport you?
