Expired Passport

My passport expired in January, and I am in the process of getting a new one, having paid the fee to get it and gathered the pics and forms, just waiting the opportunity to drive to the federal police (which is where we get a passport here in Brasil), 200 km away.

My question is, I am supplying copies of my passport to USCIS, for our K1 visa, as proof I went to see him (visa and stamps) as well as the first page with our picture and info, which somebody said was good to send, due to RFEs gotten ´cus of it. Now, will the fact that my passport is expired cause me any trouble? Can we get an RFE for that? I wrote a note on the bottom of the copy saying "Passport expired, benefiary in the process of issuing a new one".

Do I send it this way? Do I take my chances by not sending that part of passport at all? Or do I *shudder* wait about a month until I get my new passport to start my process?

If it was valid at the time you travelled, and of course it was, then it would certainly be valid proof.

The fact that it is now expired is of no concern to the USCIS.

Should be ok: I didn't even send passport copies with the original petition (copy of naturalisation certificate), only to Pras to take to the interview.

Sriniv, I am the alien fiancee, and I´m sending the passport copies for the evidence we have met.

So they won´t even care it´s expired, good.

I can't see why they would care, like kaydee said if it was valid at the time you used to enter the USA that is all that mattered. James' passport expires this month (he got a new one of course, that one has his visa) and he used the info from his old passport for proof we had met.

You'll need your new passport for the interview, but you don't need it to put in the application...

Yes, at the interview I know I do, of course.

But just wanted to be sure they wouldnt´go "Hmmmm, no valid passport, how does she think she´ll get a visa?"

I just renewed my passport and asked to receive the old one back, good thing I did huh?
