Hi Guys,

I opted to post this question here instead on the K-3 Forum since this is about my passport and i believe you guys can answer this :D.

I just recently moved this June to a new address, however my passport reflects the old address that i have. Also, my passport is about to expire this coming 2008 and from what i have learned is that you get a 2-year non-immigrant visa when you apply for K-3.

My question is: Do i need to renew my passport as early as now so that my new address will be reflected on the new one? This might also affect the K-3 visa that will be granted to me (as soon as it is approved, of course!) since there will be an overlap of 1 year if i do not renew now (read: passport valid up to 2008 only, K-3 non-immigrant visa valid up to 2009 in case it gets issued within the year).

Anyways, good luck to our journeys and congrats to those who recently got approved.

Thanks!

You certainly can renew now and it might be simpler than to do it from the USA. If however you choose not to and your visa happens to be (at some point in time) in your expired passport, you simply travel with both. Not a big deal.

YMMV

Renew the passport. We had to get Claudeth's renewed and it was fairly easy. The biggest problem we had was she took my name when we married so we had to have all sorts of proof including my divorce papers before they would do the passport. Where do you live? We did it at the Filipino in Los Angeles and then went over to Jollibee for some hamburgers and chicken and rice :P

I suggest to renew it now, and just use the name you used in your USCIS application, whether married or maiden.

Actually, I don't get it when you said that your old address is reflected in your passport because I can not find the page wherein the passport holder's address is written.

But anyway, I renewed my passport (using my married name) just early this year even if its expiration date is still next year and I got no prob.

For many of the same reasons you state, We chose to renew TinTin's passport early. It was easy and inexpensive while still in the Philippines and when the visa is issued, it will go in the new one and we wont have to worry about carrying 2 passports around in the future.

Wishing Everyone Speed, Success, Happiness and Love,

TinTin and Samby

Did I miss something here? When does your passport expire?

If you're still in the Philippines, and in the Visa process, your Passport must meet this requirement:

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States.

If your passport is going to expire in Early 2008, you need to renew. My biggest concern would be making sure you're passport stays valid more the 6 months past your entry date into the USA.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

If you haven't already renewed your passport in your hubbys family name.

You have to go to the CFO seminar to do so.

Have to do CFO anyway.
