No need MALACANANG FOR AUTHENTICATION or TO GET A RED RIBBON SEALED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIR for K1 visa.

Good to have updated CENOMAR tho.

Just so you BC is original on NSO Secpa no need updated either. Good to have additional copies as you may need them in the US later.

Be sure you have police clearance from the country you worked in if you were there for more than 6 months.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You are good to go. A recent CENOMAR is advisable though. Get one a week before your interview. CENOMAR's now are easy to get, one day from request and its there. Yes, obtain lots of copies for future use in the US when you are already there .

Removal of Conditions :

August 16, 2010 - Petition received by USCIS Vermont Center

August 20, 2010 - NOA1 received

October 4, 2010 - Biometrics

January 3, 2011 - Permanent 10 yr. Green Card Received.

Unless Manila has changed their policy they will not accept a CENOMAR from the beneficiary as proof of not being married. If the embassy believes they need to validate that the beneficiary isn't married they will request one. This has to do with document fraud in the RP.

That explains why they never asked my fiancee for her CENOMAR, which surprized me. My fiancee (now my wife of course) pointed out that they probably felt no need to get it since her current legal name matched her name on her BC, and in the Phils a woman's name is always changed when she marries so will not match her BC unless she gets an annulment (in which case she is single again). Makes sense I guess.

Sad but true in most cases.

Seems they tend to do their own CENOMAR checks on older women and woman with children more often which is understandable do to the difficulties associated getting an annulment in RP for the average pinay.

I know having one used to be suggested in the requirements and it's normally no biggy to get one and may as well get one and not be concerned not having one.

I personally know of one married woman who changed her name and got a new NSO BC and CENOMAR in her new name. Now she's single!!! :o

If she gets a K-1 interview do you think they will catch her?

Maybe....maybe not, but I don't think its worth the chance of a life-time ban for fraud.

I agree. I think she should have done whatever was necessary to get an annulment, but you know, people are always trying to take the easiest path, risky or not.

CENOMAR = CErtificate of NOn MARriage

It's a good idea to get one, even though it may never be needed.

If she gets a K-1 interview do you think they will catch her?

Depends on how she went about changing her name.

If she did a late BC registration to change her name there's a good chance USEM will question it and investigate it.

If they don't she has a chance making it all the way.

Big risk but maybe worth it as LOTS of pinay can't afford an annulment anyway in RP and a 10 year or lifetime ban wouldn't be a biggy.

Their only other chance may be if they get lucky and hook up a foreigner that is willing to sponsor the annulment!

Happens now and then.
