Which one is he?

I've heard the term "empty nest" but I can't internalize it yet. Whenever my kids go to their dad for a week (such as this week ) I feel like I've been handed a big ole bag of freedom!!! I love them but it's like I don't have to rush home and cook and clean, etc. I guess it's different though since I know they'll be back on Monday.

He's pretty much in the middle of the photo. Skinny kid in denim shorts and white shirt, sunglasses and ponytail.

It feels like a hole in your heart the size of Kansas. Like when you watch a beautiful kite reel out slowly, sway in the breeze, and then the string suddenly snaps...............

Make sure he knows that college is both learning and fun and that he will be fine as long as he finds a good balance. You know, 95% fun and 5% learning. No wait, that ratio was what caused the ROI being extremely poor for my first two years in college.

Well, he'll figure it out, I'm sure.

The tickets are kind of expensive and with Wes' schedule.....well it's not likely. Maybe one game.

The school is two hours away.

He's done this all on his own. Scholarships. Academic and need-based. We've done the best we could to get him the things he needs. Now it's all up to him.

My education is my proudest achievement - it's the one thing they can't take away from you. Sounds like Zach has already proven he can succeed.
