Fee, why in God's name did you agree to pay that!!???? Obviously I didn't need the HPV, but they did try to flog me the MMR and the Tdap for an exorbitant sum. Last week, I walked into my local surgery and go them done for diddly squat - and I'd implore everyone else to do the same!!

Damian, It was a personal choice with lots of reasons behind it. Doesnt mean everyone else has to do it. Plus, The NHS refused to supply me with the HPV. :P

Had the medical yesterday - went the same way as everyone else's on here.

After I paid the receptionist handed me a receipt stapled to a sheet detailing the vaccination record. Does everyone get this or is it just the CR1/IR1 applicants?

All the boxes are ticked either completed series, or not age appropriate. Apart from the Varicella (chicken pox) which says VH which means I've had chickenpox but we don't do the vaccine in the UK.

At the end it has a final set of tick boxes which say vaccine history incomplete and then the box is ticked applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver because vaccinations not medically appropriate as indicated above.

Is that what everyone normally gets on this form?

Nathan had his medical this past Wednesday. He said the whole process was really quick! If I remember correctly they did the chest x-ray while he was waiting to be seen by the doctor. A woman gave him his evaluation which he said lasted about 5-10 minutes tops. All he needed was a tetanus booster, and he was on his way. I think it was £205 total.

Now we just wait for the interview date.

i was also refussed the hpv by my local gp even though i was willing to pay. i ebnded up efussing to have it at the medical because its cheaper in america and i knew that if i started the course now i would need another before i leave for the course to be current and two lots of £120 is too much for me. perhaps if i knew i was leaving before two months after medical and getting married i may have done what you did to save time. but it would have been too costly. its barmey that the nhs can buy it in for you even if you are willing to pay for it. i'm still bermused as to why?

My nurse wanted to charge me £140 a shot, I couldn't believe it was more than a private doctor. I've heard though you only need the first shot for AOS, not the whole series.

Had my medical this morning. All seemed to go smoothly (of course I don't the results yet so perhaps not lol)

Took about an hour in all, most of that waiting around to be seen. Receptionist was pleasant & handed me a quick medical questionnaire/AIDS test consent form. Saw a friendly nurse about vaccines first , straight into a chest x-ray, then into see a young female doctor after a wait. She didnt seem unfriendly but didnt say much. Did a eye test, height, weight, quick body exam, didnt ask many questions at all. Was told results should be at the embassy by Wed which is plenty of time for my interview (not until the following week). Paid the money and left. Really not any bother at all :)

I got a copy of the vaccine record too. I was told the embassy will be sent the original with the chest x-ray etc but was to keep hold of my copy for US immigration (I guess that means at POE?)

My record is marked identical to yours. I was told I had all the nessecary vaccines so I assume what we got is normal :)

Thank goodness - this process is making me paranoid! I have a short window between visa interview and my booked flight and I'm sure something will go wrong!

Has anyone had the TST scratch test at Knightsbridge quacks, I have been informed by a very reliable sourse not mentioning any name Damian woops

that for AOS you have to now have it, it became law on the 1st June, so please let me know if anyone has been offered it and the price of it, as I dont want to pay for another medical in the States if I can avoid it. I will also give them a call tomorrow to find out as my medical is booked for the 19th, but was just wondering before I called if anyone knows

It's testing for TB. Currently London only do the X-ray to check for signs of TB but some countries do the skin test at the medical too.

I called knightbridge this morning and they know nothing about it.

So I am off to the docs anyway in a minute to get my immunisation records and will ask my GP if they can do it, dont really want to go and pay for another medical in the states.

Oh well better go now already feel sick about having the jabs if they cant find my records, I am petrified of needles

The K-1 medical itself is very simple:-

1. Provide passport, photo, completed questionnaire at Reception

2. Called to see the nurse, who goes through the vaccination and childhood disease history & gives injections/boosters that you agree to on the day (if any)

3. Chest X-ray

4. Medical - height and weight check; eyesight; heart and lungs; genitalia "peek" check to confirm gender; lymph glands and blood test

5. Reception hand over your passport and the signed, completed DS-3025, while you part with your life-savings or beloved plastic friend

-------------------

Helpful additional notes on this one:-

Although Knightsbridge Doctors give you the DS-3025 (Vaccination record), this is NOT the requirement for the AoS. According to the USCIS notes you are SUPPOSED to be issued with a sealed envelope after the medical but Knightsbridge Doctors don't do this. You will need the I-693 Vaccination Supplement - Appendix A - (available from the CDC website - http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti-03/appdx-a_693vacc.pdf) and to have it completed and signed by a Civil Surgeon in the US after your arrival (for a fee, of course). List of Civil Surgeons in the US can be found at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV.

Knightsbridge do NOT do the TB skin test, it is the chest Xray which confirms the absence/presence of TB. The Xray is sufficient for the K-1 visa. You will be given the chest Xray film at the US Embassy if you are approved for the K-1 visa. Keep it safe, as you may need it later for your AoS interview or any required medical.

For any questions you answered Yes to on the Questionnaire, ask your GP to write a letter in advance, clarifying your current status regarding that condition. In the case of depression or depressive stages it needs to include treatment history (drugs, counselling, duration, repeated episodes) and whether self-harm or harm to others was involved. If you don't, they will write to your GP for clarification. If this happens, ask your GP to provide you with a copy of their response so you have it for your AoS interview if required.

Take any vaccination records you have to the appointment. Most GP surgeries are now computerised and offer a summary of your diagnoses and treatments for a small fee (generally £10-15). If you contact the Practice Manager then they can advise in more detail. (This is also a great record for your medical provider in the US for continuity of treatment, rather than starting from scratch and hoping you remember every childhood illness).

For those who are seeking to get their I-693 Supp completed in the US prior to AoS filing: When you contact a Civil Surgeon's office, make sure you explain that it is the I-693 Vaccination Supplement that you want signed off, not the I-693 itself (this tends to trigger the "oh, we can't complete the I-693 without a full medical" response). All it involves is the doctor transferring the details from the DS-3025 to the I-693a and signing it. If you get any further vaccinations (the Varicella is not available in the UK, and HPV isn't always provided before you leave), get details of them in writing, stamped by the medical practice involved and put a copy of it in with your I-693 Supplement (it's often referred to as an I-693a).

Really hope this helps - it's a pain in the butt trying to sort it all out when you're assembling your AoS package. :)
