The male doctor who did my husband's exam told him it was a gender check. He asked "do you get many that aren't correct?" The doctor said "You'd be surprised. I've had two this year."

My doctor told me it was to check for any signs of infection/abnormalities too. When I looked at the bit of the form they have to fill out, it actually asks them about that and if we appear to have lied on the questionnaire I think. So they should be checking. I was nosey and had a good look before handing mine back in.

She checked mine when laying back on the bed near the end of all of her checks (I had to lay down with my boobs out while she checked my lungs with her stethoscope lol) and I just had to pull my panties down, she had a quick glance and spread my outer lips to have a better look for any abnormalities and then told me I could pull my knickers back up. Didn't take long at all, probably only about 5 seconds if that. No internal checks, and a lot less uncomfortable than a smear or STI test. I didn't find it uncomfortable at all, nor was I worried about it, but that might be because I'm used to getting my bits out anyway.

Mine was more like a TSE - certainly more than a quick look. May be age related (I'm 55) No big deal being examined in that way by a female doctor. Best clean pants of course :-)

I believe it is for a 'gender check' but whether that is now a requirement since the dismissal of DOMA is a moot point. I didn't have a check but I did have brief briefs, so maybe it was obvious? She did have a detailed examination of my breasts (I did feel like asking her 'Shouldn't you buy me dinner first?' but thought better of it). However, I am 50, so I did wonder if it was age specific.

I had no checking of my bits. Did have a breast exam for lumps, but did not take trousers off. My kids were with me, they were clearly mine so perhaps my gender was not in question? Their bits weren't checked either, I'd been told they can be and warned them, but it didn't happen. This was with the Chinese dr. there, he was very nice.

Hey guys it was so much easier than I thought it was going to be (i know I know Queen told me all along :P)

They saw me half an hour early. I had the chinese lady doctor who was surprisingly a lot nicer than I thought though she didnt seem to be a fan of small talk and preferred to completely not respond unless it was a direct question hahah...

She didn't feel my boobs she just wanted to "look at them". So I basically just flashed her. And she wanted me to lift the waistband of my jeans very quickly for a quick peek ( she didn't even look properly) so overall it was very unintrusive and quite pleasant. The xray woman was very jolly and joked a lot. She did ask me if I knew I had Scoliosis...it means curviture of the spine and she showed me it on my xray was very strange to see! She said it was quite common and nothing to worry about *phew*

Now starts the worrying about the next two days!

Phew! Glad to hear it! We're allowed to take bags and stuff in there right? It's just the interview where we can't take a bag?

You can take what you like into the medical.

For the interview, you will need to take a bag as you'll be taking supporting documentation and your I-134 with you. What you can't take in with you is anything electronic e.g. mobile phone, iPad, electronic car door opener (I read someone who got caught with that recently), USB stick. Leave those things at home (as I did) or leave them at at price at Gould's Chemist.

You can take a bag into the interview - like a handbag or something. I had a tote with me with my documents/pen/oyster card/purse/house keys/lip balm in, and the lady and gent in front in the queue both had shoulder bags.

They don't want you taking a massive rucksack or luggage though!

You can take what you like to the medical.

If you're shy about boobs, you're lucky you didn't get the doctor I had then lol! She told me to slip my robe down (top bit) and made me lay back with my boobs out while she was doing all of her stuff. And to get my legs out so she can check my skin.

Hahah that's so funny. Maybe because I don't really have much to see she would have just been disappointed. I did have to show her each ####### seperately not sure what she was looking for

After what I'd read before, I did wonder why I had to lay with my boobs out for most of the physical part of the medical, but at that point I was so relieved already that the mental health stuff was alright that when she was like "can you slip your robe down and lay back" I was just like, she's being nice, if she orders me to get my baps out for a while, I shalln't cause complications!

And LOL - Mine aren't Jordan-esque but not small, about 34C. Perhaps she wanted to check for scars or something. I did tell her I'd had chickenpox in March though so that's what the pinky small scars were.
