Since you had it in 1990 it should be ok if you have just had the Td recently. When was the last time you had one of those?

Thanks for your answers

I've got police certificate, passport and so on.

I had dtap in 1990, would this suffice ?

Then you need Td or Tdap again based on the ACIP (CDC) reccomendations of every 10 years is what I would think. Kinda hard to speculate based on descriptions of what you say you had vs somebody looking at your whole immunization record. Knightsbridge will have to tell you.

You said you got the T(tetanus) recently. What about the d part (diphtheria)? I don't know how the diphtheria keeps getting left off. I've written lists from the CDC and USCIS literature to try to help people prepare for requirements. It's on the charts too as Td/Tdap and DTP/DTaP/DT. But somehow people keep saying they got their tetanus shot, when tetanus by itself is not on the list. A separate tetanus shot is generally if you get a bad wound but the combo shot is to prevent the spread of infectious diseases diphtheria and pertussis and the tetanus is thrown in because it's a good idea to update it in case you step on a rusty nail.

And FWIW, the embassy posted chart is an old version from when HPV was required of women, prior to Dec 2009 and before flu shots were added for all ages over 6 months in Nov 2010. This link http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/39181/pdfs/vaccinechart.pdf is an old chart.

I'll be honest, I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but as the medical is probably the most nerve wracking part of the process, I thought I'd post my experiences.

My medical was at Bentick Mansions (I think that's what it's called isn't it), which is easy enough to find. A 5 minute walk from Oxford Street, Bentick Mansions is a mansion block that is clearly marked. It was covered in scaffolding when I went. Once I was buzzed in, I went to the reception window where I was greeted and given a form to fill in. I made my way into the waiting area where there were half a dozen others, filled in he form and returned it.

3 parts to the medical. First, check my jabs. Just short on MMR. Was handed a form showing my jabs for my adjustment of status I think. I just have to attatch a record of the MMR from my dr when I get it. Asked if I had chicken pox as a kid. I said yes, they accepted that without further proof.

Next the X-ray. Take off my jumper, t shirt stayed on, stand in front of a plate, bam done. No issues there.

Finally the examination. This I was worried about. Blood pressure, weight, height and eyesight checked. Lymph glands checked, stomach prodded a bit, lie of bed, drop my boxers, a 2 second check of down below, a few deep breaths while she listens to my chest and a few reflex tests done with her little hammer. To be honest, the examination seemed pretty pointless to me, more like they are doing stuff to justify their fee. Also a bit of blood taken. What did back me off I my blood pressure was high due to my white coat syndrome. Had a letter given to my GP to get some blood pressure readings over a 24 hr period. Had my medical 3 weeks ago, I am currently still waiting for my utterly useless GP to provide me with a 24 hour monitor. Must admit, I'm getting really hacked off. Was hoping to have the visa ion my hand and be on the plane by the end of November. As the medical guys won't pass on my results to the embassy until they have heard from my GP, that is very much unlikely to happen. I've a provisional weeding date of 28th Dec. that too is looking like it ain't gonna happen as I have to give 4 weeks notice at work. Overall the medical experience was no where near the nightmare I thought it was going to be. I was there just over an hour, I reckon 50 minutes of that was waiting. What I am hacked off about, big time, is my nerves weren't clearly taken into account when the blood pressure was taken, and I know have a serious spanner in the works. Until I get this 24 hour blood pressure reading done I'm in limbo. I'll miss many things when I leave, the god awful NHS isn't one of them!!!!!

No, that won't work. The USCIS won't take a note from your personal doctor for your AOS. It must be on the form signed by the Knighhtsbridge doctor or you will take all records to a civil surgeon in the US and pay him to sign off and seaL up the I-693 medical form.

Was your MMR jab less than 4 weeks ago? Or did you just not want to have the second one done at Knightsbridge? Best to get it and have it recorded on your sheet before they send your medical report to the embassy. Your doctor can fax the proof to them.

I was given duff info at the medical then. I was told that if I attatched my vaccination record from my GP showing I had recieved the MMR, that would be sufficient. Also my medical sheet was given to me and I was told to hold on to it until I'm ready to fill in my AOS. It wasn't retained to be sent to the embassy, unless they have a duplicate.

Had my medical on the 28th September.

The place was quite easy to find although it looks like a building site( more on this later!) and there are no real signs outside to say it was the correct place. I arrived an hour early and reception let me kindly wait there till my appointment. I think Jade was in the office but was busy on the phone so i had a Polish woman check me in. As people have said already i was treated with contempt and i must have dragged her away from playing Angry Birds on her ipad.

I had no proof of vaccinations with me but luckily was not a problem on the K1 visa and nobody asked any more questions.

I had the chest x-rays first buy a male nurse who was very friendly and chatty and put me at ease. The position is a bit of a ####### that you have to get your body into though.

2 minutes after that finished i was called in to see a middle aged, red headed female Australian doctor. Again she was friendly and seemed very genuine and wanted to know things about me. She asked for my height and weight, she did not take it herself and just took my word. I had my BP taken and a few reflex test. I have some heavy scaring on my legs i picked up from a bomb blast in Iraq and she asked a few questions but did not flinch and said it was not a problem. I then hoped up on the bed and took my pants down to check I'm a man, at 6'5 and 20 stone i would be the worlds ugliest woman! I then looked up to see a builder looking through the window at me, our eyes causal locked as my gentlemen tackle was being fondled, we had a moment, was it love? I though it was weird there were no curtains.

After i seen the doctor i sat back in the waiting room for another 2 minutes then went and seen the vaccination nurse, she explained that i needed 2 injections but recommended i got them done somewhere cheaper which was nice.

In total through the 3 checks it took 19 minutes. Very quick and straight forward and everyone was nice.

Back to the moody Polish lady who must have been stuck on a hard level of her game, paid and left. All in all a ruddy good show!

I had my medical back in August, I was missing TDAP & they fed me the same lies & told me to attach my vaccine records from my GP for AOS. This is complete rubbish. Listen to what Nick told you. I actually phoned up & complained twice because I was so furious to be given the wrong information. They took no responsibility for giving the wrong information to patients & did not care that they were taking peoples' money & not delivering a service. Basically the medical results that you paid £227 are now absolutely useless to you for AOS & unfortunately it can cost a lot to get another immunisation record in the US, often they ask you to re-take the medical. If your results have been sent to the embassy already then it's best to read through this entire thread & try & find a civil surgeon in the US in the city you will be living.

Fanbloodytastic. The docs are holding my results until I forward the results of my 24 hour blood pressure results (whenever that may be). I'll see about getting my first MMR jab when I get the blood pressure monitor fitted and see about getting a record faxed to the medical guys to be added to my record as mentioned earlier then. Worst case scenario, my father in law to be is a GP over there, so hopefully won't be a major issue. Really hacked off they've put this whole process on hold for me because my blood pressure was a bit high due to nerves. Now it seems they are giving out blatatenly wrong information!!!!!

Good that they are holding it for you so now you can get everything sorted. If you do need to get anything done in the US, it has to be by a USCIS approved Civil Surgeon I'm afraid. There is a list on their official website.

Yeah, I had a feeling that might be the case, which is why I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw his name on the list LOL. Hopefully though, a faxed copy of my updated immunisation record to Knightsbridge Doctors will mean everything sorted before I eventually get out there.

Howdy, I had a BP issue on my exam and I was told that even if my GP would take for example 3 BP in a time frame of a day and would show a okay number would be okay for them at the clinic!so do you need to get a 24hour monitoring? this will take you sometime to get back to your GP once is done by the Hospital that you will be sent!

Hubby had his medical today, so I wanted to share his experience :)

His appointment was at 3:10pm and he planned his trip to be about 15-20 mins early. Apparently there was a lot of road works and construction going on so he had a heck of a time finding the place...which is weird since he's a born-and-raised Londoner! He also forgot the map and directions at home (typical lol!) so he was going off what he could remember. Anyway, he showed up about 20 mins late, but they got him in and did the chest x-ray and blood test pretty quickly. In looking at his vaccination records, he ended up needing Dtap, MMR, and a flu shot to be fully updated...so the trip cost over 300 pounds but at least we are ALMOST done. We would've been able to get updated shots from his GP, but he was in California with me until Sunday, Oct 7, got home in the afternoon of Oct 8 with enough time to get the vaccination records, and then had his medical this afternoon...so we didn't have ANY time to see the GP to get shots done. Oh well! Other than a bit of a sore arm, he's ok :) Now it's on to the interview on Monday Oct 15 and hopefully home for my birthday on the 25th!!
