Did people wait for packet 3, or did you make the appointment as soon as you had the LND case number? unsure.gif

I waited (stupidly), but you can do the medical as soon as you have your police certificate and LND number.

Sooner the better, in my opinion.

David.

Had my medical today, all went okay

I've got to have my MMR booster before I do AOS and get some sort of print out to prove I've got that

I'm not sure if my doctors actually do a proper print out, I know they weren't very fourth coming with evidence when I got my injections done before the medical.

However, has the price of the medical changed? I had to pay £210

Ouch, I paid exactly £200.

Did you have anything else done?

My nurse at my own GP surgery wasn't sure what was needed, so she gave me an initial dose of MMR and the tetanus(sp) jab, which has all the other things Knightsbridge needs. She printed off the report including dates, signed it, dated it, and put the GP surgery's stamp on it.

That was ok for the vaccinations nurse at Knightsbridge, anyway.

David.

@Zebraguy, my Doctors had no problem doing a printout, I just called the receptionist and she said she'd print them out and I'll walk over, they are your medical records they have no right to keep them from you, also I knew I had to have some injections done first so I scheduled them and when I went there i told the nurse what I needed them for and she printed out my new vaccination records for me, which the Doctor found more then suitable, I guess it all depends on how friendly your GP is.

My own experience for the Medical wasn't too bad, worst part was that the Monday before I had sprained my ankle really bad (interview was on the Thursday and I wasn't able to walk properly for over 3 weeks) so I had to get the tube up to Bond street which wasn't bad as I live about 10 minutes from the nearest tube station and I got someone to drop me off and was only about 15 minutes by tube. But once I got to Bond Street I then had to go to Gould Pharmacy to get some US passport size pictures, which is good because they are about 10 minute walk from the medical place I had to go to (is even closer to the US embassy in London), so I had to make my way around London on crutches, after about five minutes I gave them up and hobbled instead, I then went on my way to the Medical place, I went in there the receptionist was very nice and helpful, gave me a form to fill out (very similar to the one they ask you to fill out before going to your medical) which I then did, then I sat down for approximately half hour before the radiologist came and got me and took some chest x-rays which was pretty quick, and then went to sit down for another short wait before seeing the Doctor, went into the room she asked me a few questions about my general medical health and then did things very similar to what you would be put through if you go through a medical with your Doctor. The whole experience was very comfortable and quick, and they were very helpful, I thought it was going to be a lot worse but was quite pleasant in comparison to what I thought!

Just got back from my medical at Knightsbridge.

I arrived at 9.50am, was asked by a nice receptionist to hand over my documents (passport, passport photo, police cert, vaccination records & medical questionnaire) and give another questionnaire to fill out. Went to the waiting room, filled it out and returned it to reception. I went back to the waiting room (there was about 5 other people there) and within a few minutes was asked to go through for my X-ray.

Was told to take off my top, bra and necklace. Was given a gown to wear & then I had a nice chat with the bloke doing the X-ray while he sorted everything out. Within 5 minutes I was done and as I was leaving that room the nurse had just finished with a lady there so took me straight into her office. We chatted for a bit about my vaccination records, I agreed to get my MMR and Tetanus shots done there and then. She gave me standard spiel about side-effects, done both jabs (didn't hurt at all) and then she led me to a different waiting room for women only as I was still topless in the gown!

After a 10 minute wait I was called by a lovely, soft-spoken doctor and she brought me into her office. She asked a few medical questions (do I need glasses, have I ever suffered from depression etc) before getting on with the exam. She weighed me, took my height and asked me to lay down on her examination chair. She checked my ears and throat, took my blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs, done some weird tapping on my stomach, whacked me on the knees with an object that looked a lot like a hammer and then took a blood test, which was also pretty painless. I had a quick eye exam, which was literally "Cover this eye, read that line. Now cover the opposite eye and do the same." She told me to get dressed and return to the waiting room. As I was leaving she wished me the best of luck with everything and told me she hoped my little boy and I would be in America as soon as possible.

Waited back in the first waiting room for a further few minutes before the lovely receptionist from earlier called me back to the desk. She handed me a form showing my new vaccination history and told me to keep it safe, but that it wasn't needed for the visa interview & a copy will be sent to them directly. I paid for the medical & X-ray (£210) and the vaccinations (£63 in total) and she gave me a receipt, wished me luck and that was it.

All in all I was there for exactly an hour. Everyone was very very nice to me, had some nice chats with all three of the medical personnel I was with and I'm glad it's all over and done with!

For reference, the building is a 10min walk from Bond Street station, definitely bring a map if you're inclined to get lost easily, it's a very busy area of London!

Copied here from Kata's experiences:

Had the medical today - getting there from nearby Surrey was easy. Had a little troublef inding the building, since the address doesn't point out that the '4' is referring to a room number within a bigger building, so I was looking for a building with a '4' on it. Handed over the paperwork, filled out another form, waited for a bit. They have water int he room - but it's warm.

Immunizations - turns out they didn't have the MMR when I was getting my first vaccinations so I had to get an MMR even though my GP thought I was up to date ( I actually had 1x MMR, 1x Measles). Oww needles. Oww money, too.

XRay - They have you stand in the most odd position to do this, arms by waist, shoulders rolled back to thrust your chest forward against the plate - oh, and as if doing all that at once isn't confusing enough, hold this heavy leather thing with only your thumbs.

Examination - They ask you a lot more questions than I was expecting, and so many of them are completely unrelated to the immigration requirements. I got dietary advice, fitness advise, an eye exam, heart and lung exam, and even a physical check for testicular cancer. (Has anyone else had the doctor offer this?) There was also a height and weight check and a blood test. The doctor made conversation about where I was going and made a few polite inquires about my fiancee, too.

All in all, it was a pleasant enough experience. The staff is all quite friendly and eager to help.

I (the U.S. Fiancee) thought it was quite a weird thing, myself.

It made me a bit uncomfortable hearing about.

I had my medical today and thought I'd share the experience to anyone who is curious or nervous about theirs.

I got to my appointment around 10am, it had been pouring rain so a bunch of soaked pre-immigrants stood around in the waiting room. A girl at reception took my documents and I filled out a quick form in the waiting room. I was really nervous, as I usually am with medical stuff, but luckily my fiance has been visiting me so he came with me for reassurance.

The X-ray took only a minute and the radiologist was really nice. After the X-ray I waited a couple minutes and spoke to the vaccination nurse. She explained everything to me and gave me options for the MMR Booster which I need, but don't need for the interview if that makes sense. Then back to the waiting room, and this time I sat for about 40 minutes just waiting for the doctor. The radiologist, vaccination nurse and doctor were all women.

Eventually the doctor got me and asked me all the same questions as I had answered on the questionnare. I read the letters on the wall with one eye at a time, had to take off my jeans, and lay on the bed. Then she quickly shone a light into my eyes, my throat and ears. Took my blood pressure and the blood test. That took about a second and didnt hurt. She used the stethoscope to check my breathing, pressed down on my belly to check for hernias (?) and took a very quick peek at the gender-area.

She was silent the whole time so I had to ask if everything was okay and she was like, 'yeah everythings great!'

After that I got changed, paid and was given all my documents back. Everybody was friendly and professional. Apart from waiting for the doctor for ages, it was okay. I was told the embassy would have my results by Wednesday and that I'd get a call in the next 2 days if anything was abnormal in my blood test or x-ray.

It was funny to hear everybody else in the waiting room talk about their thoughts about moving to America. The whole process has finally started to feel real now!
