That is correct. As to the phone, I am of the kind that always follows those kinds of rules, but I did not once see anything regarding not being allowed to use my phone while waiting. There may have been something specific about loud phone calls, but nothing about using the phone to text, surf the internet etc, and others were indeed using their phones. I also cannot recall anyone else mentioning this previously, so it may be new? As for the last part, I was aware that this was a possibility, but did not apply to me specifically - on that note they also did not check my nose, throat or extremities.

She actually took a picture of the "do not use mobile phones" sign. Here is the actual sign that she photographed on the day: https://photos.app.goo.gl/fFRp4RQxV0mZEroD2

I guess it is possible that they just added it, but it's definitely there, as of July 20th 2017.

Regarding them not checking everything, sounds like they ripped you off and that you didn't get your £300 worth! :D

There has always been slight differences reported in the exams. Some doctors seem to be more thorough than others. If only a male doctor was available they might skip the knicker peek unless there was a female nurse available to be present. Seems to depend on the staff, how busy, and so forth.

Just had my medical at Knightsbridge.

what an anti-climax that was!

I arrived at 10.15 (apt 10.30). Good to arrive early to get ahead of the paperwork/urine sample. i was out of there by 11.20.

Was fairly straight forward, not as intense as I imagined.

Does anyone know what the blood and urine tests are for?

Also, is it better to put off your medical if you have a blocked nose, sore throat, blocked sinuses etc, or will it make no difference? I'd rather go in full health

The entire scope of the visa medical exam can be read in detail in the Technical instructions for Panel Physicians

You are given a chest X-ray to determine if you have tuberculosis. People with severe chest congestion have been asked to return for their X-ray because their lungs were not clear enough to determine if TB was present. If it's just your nose that's plugged, then no problem really.

My local Boots has the vaccinations available now and my local pharmacy has them available from tomorrow. About £11. Call Knightsbridge Doctors to check ahead of your appointment so you can avoid the possible £40 charge at their practice. You shouldn't have to book an appointment at larger Boots, Asda, Tesco stores or a local pharmacy etc. You should be able to just walk in.

Flu season for your immigration purposes is Oct 1 to March 31.

Probably a silly question - I just had a tonsillectomy last Wednesday and 2 days later got Case complete from NVC meaning my interview should hopefully be within the next 6 weeks and I can think about booking my medical soon! I know they check your throat... Is my scabby / inflamed throat going to cause me any problems? haha 😂 im not sure how long it takes the throat to heal entirely but I can only assume that there will still be visible issues by the time of my medical!

Nope, take a medical summary that includes your recent surgery, you'll be fine.

The doctor is mainly looking for communicable diseases and anything that indicates you may become reliant on state/federal aid.

Hope you feel better soon :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey
