We certainly sent in our photocopy and made note of it on our coversheet, can't hurt you know.

Agreed :) I only put that line in so that other people didn't worry if they hadn't put the DS3025 in themselves.

No guarantees your AOS officer read the handbook.

For more details see my pinned topic in AOS forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

Yes, I looked at that pinned topic before posting and found it very useful :) Thank you for putting it together. I have been tempted to include a screenshot of the handbook guidance to the adjudicators about the DS3025 form not being marked complete, but thought that might antagonise them!

Simon.

Just a post with my Knightsbridge Medical experience.

I flew down from Edinburgh to London City Airport, this one was slightly more expensive to fly to but much more convenient.

Just outside the airport you can purchase a ticket to your zone, was around £10. From there I got the DLR train to Canning Town (3 stops) and head to the Underground getting the Jubilee line to Bond Street station. From there it's a 6 minute walk as it puts you right on Oxford St (plenty places to grab lunch or shop if you have time to kill).

This is what the building looks like from outside: 5E362ADD003B52ED80413DA1150C79D41515DCAC

I turned up for my medical 30 minutes early. If you are early they tell you to just wait in the waiting room until 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time- then check in again at reception.

They then handed me a form to fill out. Much like the questionnaire you take in with you just more detailed. After that I was taken into the first room to review my medical documentation. As I don't have any of my medical records from when I was a child (grew up in a different country) I tried to provide as much as I could, as well as documentation of booster doses and blood tests I had done in preparation. I did tell them of the dates and immunizations I had as a child but unfortunately they do want proof. So I will be getting another blood test done before AOS (my drs surgery could only provide blood tests for some of the required vaccinations) and a 3rd vaccination dose.

I was then moved to the "half-way waiting room" for 10 or 15 minutes before going in to get my chest X-Ray done. I wore a strappy top underneath with no wires or bits on it so I was allowed to keep that on. (Girls- probably best to take a hair tie with you as your hair does need to be tied up above your back and when I was there it was just rubber bands which are not nice to long hair!). The machine ticks away then you take a big breath in and your done, you do not get to put your clothes back on and will be given a thin robe to cover up. Back to the half-way waiting room for around another 15 minutes.

The third doctor then collected me for the final part, some questions, height check, weight check, blood test (which left a nasty bruise) bp check, listen to lungs/heart and a physical examination where she just pressed on my lower stomach a few times (I really needed a wee by this point, not fun) and a check under the pants...

After that you can get dressed and head back to the main waiting room you started in, where reception will call you over and charge you for the appointment and hand back all your documents/passport. You also get a form that you need to keep for your AOS with the information from the medical. All in all took just over an hour. They said it would take 3 days for the records to be sent to the Embassy.

  • 1 month later...

Echoing what others have said, they do require that you have had 2 MMR vaccines, I wasn't aware of this until they told me at the docs, then I came here to check if others had the same issue!

Other than that, Medical went very well, very nice facilities. It was busy, but they are very efficient, so waiting time was never too long.

I dressed quite smartly, and even wore cufflinks... top tip, gents, don't wear a shirt that requires cufflinks... That shirt will be on and off approx 3 times, and refitting the cufflinks while people are waiting for you is awkward!

Good luck everyone else!

  • 2 weeks later...

I went for my medical yesterday. All went well. I was a little worried about my blood pressure as I tend to shout during episodes of channel 4's 24 hours in Police custody. But it was fine.

Bit worried about doctor checking my bollocks. There's a hot doctor and an average looking doctor. I was praying I'd get the average one, but no - doctor Hot called me in. I just thought of my sister in law during the examination and it was fine. One rather awkward moment when my cough was weak and she said "harder please," but apart from that all was good

good.

Process was as follows:

Fill in form

Nurse checks immunisation records

X rays done by another person

Then the doctor does the check up (eye test, pulse, breathing, weight, blood test, blood pressure, height)

And finally payment. She said no news is good news, and the blood test results take around 3 days to arrive back.

Good luck all.

Haha, people I've spoken to, and myself, didn't have to do the cough test.

Maybe that means she liked you... or maybe it means she didn't...

The cough test is to check for a hernia I believe. So perhaps I showed other signs of hernias.

The bollocks test actually had me more worried than the visa interview. But then I remembered that they're just bollocks. And bollocks to a doctor are like eyes to an optician. That philosophy got me through.

I wear contact lenses, I told her and she didn't ask me to take them out. So you'll be fine.

Same here, I told her I wear contact lenses, and I didn't take them out, just read from the usual eye chart. One of my eyes wasn't quite as good as it should have been, but she did remark that the eye was slightly red and inflamed on the day - probably a combination of getting up very early and should probably have started a new pair of lenses that day!

It's just reading a chart on the wall with your glasses on.

 Hubby says he didn't have to do a cough test, but she sure did thoroughly examine him, and mumbled something curiously amusing about hard boiled eggs.

How strange they have different levels of 'check' in that department then.

The guy I had just said, "it's a formality, but can you prove you're male so I can tick a box on this form", that was it. Literally, seconds and done, no examination of that region.

Also eye test was just read a chart, I mentioned laser eye surgery, and he didn't even note it. If anything he was more interested in my hay fever that day haha.

I was crazy nervous so I left my house at 7am. although I'd planned getting the 8am train I was early so ended up on the 7:30. I got the Hammersmith line to bakerloo and then the jubali line to bond street. in total it only took me an hour to get from reading to bond st. I went up to check where it was and found it after sending a friend who had been before some pictures of buildings.

I then went to Starbucks as needed coffee and shelter since it was raining.

went in early as was desperate for the bathroom, they let me in no trouble and I sat in the waiting room until my appointment time.

handed in paper work and had forgot my receipt with lnd number. .

I had to have an Mmr done as my doctor fibbed and said I was up to date, then a chest xray. I had a short wait and then saw a lovely female doctor. paperwork, eyes, ears and throat. had a blood test and blood pressure, temperature and she checked all my moles, down bellow and my stomach. only thing she mentioned was to get moles checked regularly and to be safe with the Sun.. my go did not care when I asked for them to be checked and it was lovely to be taken seriously. it was very relaxed and I wondered why I'd been even the slightest nervous. on to interview! !

Hi all!

I have my medical tomorrow (aah!) and was wondering if you're allowed to bring anyone with you? I have a very severe needle phobia and just need someone with me for the blood test to help keep me calm and prevent a panic attack (ridiculous I know). Very nervous but can't wait to get it done and be one step closer to getting to be with my fiancee!

Hi everyone!

My interview is on the 25th of July and I have an appoitment at my GP's to get vaccinations on the 20th of June.

I'm a 38 year old female born and breed outside the UK with no vaccination records.

My understanding is that I require Td or Tdap and MMR.

Is there any other vaccination I require? I do not know for sure whether or not I've had chicken pox, do I need a vaccine for this too?

Thanks.

Be sure and tell your GP that it is Tetanus/diptheria and pertussis. P is not for polio.

The vaccine for chickenpox isn't a regular vaccine in the UK. Because you have to be totally complete on your shots for an immigrant visa, you will get a waiver for the varicella shot marked "not routinely available" as the reason you are excused. In other words, they will still pass you for immigration without the varicella shot because most doctor offices and even the visa medical clinic in the UK do not have the shot to give you.

(Note to K1 visa people: this isn't true for you because you could still get your varicella shot in the US before your AOS since your visa does not require your to be complete.)
