I have been reading some previous threads about people who have booked their medical, got their visa appointment, and then changed their medical to a date close to their visa appointment so that they only need to make one trip to London.

What are people's thoughts on doing this? Has anyone done this successfully? Or it is not recommended? Thoughts appreciated.

First of all, congratulations on getting your petition filed You should have your first NOA within a week or so.

It works for some consulates but London insists on getting the medical results before the send out the interview date, or such is my understanding so I don't know if it would work. I really wish they would rethink this, considering the cost of travel to and in London, in addition to hotel and expenses and time off work.

Ah that is a shame, I live in Cornwall so getting to London is a real drag. Fortunately I work from home so that shouldn't be a problem but it's so darn expensive going all that way and almost possible to do in a day so really requires a hotel! Silly embassy

If you are reading old UK posts, it used to be done. They changed their plan to one that is most efficient to the embassy and quickest issue of visas, but not necessarily convenient to the beneficiary.

Ah okay so the appointment cannot even be scheduled until medical results are received it would seem... you're right that is quite radically different to some of the other embassys! Thanks again, perfect answer as always Nich-Nick!

what size photo did you take? i read somewhere that a UK passport photo is required, but in the medical pack it states:

The specifications of the photograph are the same as those obtained for the visa;

which sounds as though it should follow US visa photo dimensions.....?

The people at Knightsbridge will take either size, so whatever you have. Size doesn't matter.

I stupidly sent my original police certificate to NVC, I didn't think I'd need it for medical. Could I take a photocopy of the original that's with NVC? Anyone have experience with this or have an email address for the Knightsbridge medical center.

I am not at interview stage yet but I want to be prepared.
