Hey Guys!

I will be having my interview on the 23rd of October, my passport from the Philippines will expire on the 20th of October. My question is: Is it an absolute requirement to bring with me a new passport? As per info from the consulate (chicago) website, it would take 5 weeks minimum for the processing, how long would be the maximum lenght of time? If no, what would happen if i will be approved (hopefully), should they give me any documents that shows approval of my application? are they ( consuls) going to stamped the visa in the passport or will they send me a green card?

I would appreciate very much any information that you could share.

Thank you.

Why not just go get your passport renewed? We got Claudeth's renewed and it was easy. Good luck

Yes, I realize that it would be simple to just have my passport renewed..my main problem is the time involved. My new passport might not be in my hand by the time my interview takes place thus, my question...Is a passport absolutly required for the interview.

Thank you

Having an expired passport at your interview is not an issue, you just definitely won't get a I-551 stamp if approved. Its better to have an expired passport than no passport at all (which might happen if you send your passport in to be renewed and don't get it back in time for the interview).
