I am working on my AOS; my passport expired this year, and the agency of my country doesn't allow me to renew the passport in US because I haven't served their military.

They require me to go back after I finish my study with no exception.

I guess I am not going anywhere even after I receiving green card because my expired passport. :crying:

2007 Oct: Received PR green card

2011 Nov: Voluntarily Abandoned PR green card (due to relocation oversea). Received FREE B1/B2 & C1/D Crew US visa

2024 APR: Planned for EB2-C from Taiwan as Professional Pilot

You can visit Canada and Mexico, they recognize the green-card, and all you need to re-enter the USA is the green-card.

Your passport problem can be solved by naturalization 3-5 years after getting the green-card, you then can get a US passport.

Yea, that is my plan.

I heard the rules were changed, that it's required to have valid passport in n out of US; even to Canada or Mexico....

Or I am hoping there will be law changed after new president in TW......

Thanks for the reply.

That's good news; so if I hold a current Green Card and my passport expires, I should have no problem to re-enter US.

All i need to re-enter is showing the valid Green Card.

I have entry permit to China; they don't care about TW passport, maybe I can go visit there and come back w/my expired TW passport and valid GC.

Thanks again for the info.

China may want to see a valid passport, the above rule only applies to neighboring countries and islands not international travel.
