Easy stuff. Engineers deals with math about 1000000x difficult than this than. These are very basic just like 1+1=2. Next time, don't blame engineers for making faulty bridges, and tunnels. It's already hard enough to build them correctly. ^_^

You'd make a great teacher.

Ok then Mr Engineer, why don't you prove that

xn+yn=zn

where x, y, z, and n are integers, has no nonzero solutions for n > 2.

:P

I'm not an engineer - but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Fermat's Last Theorem: (Wiles 1995)

The equation xn+yn=zn has no solutions in positive integers for n greater than 2

It is impossible to write a cube as a sum of two cubes, a fourth power as a sum of fourth powers, and, in general, any power beyond the second as a sum of two similar powers. For this, I have found a truly wonderful proof, but the margin is too small to contain it.

You can find details of the proof here:

Yes, well...... I've read (parts of) Wiles' proof - it uses some very advanced concepts

(elliptic curves, modular forms) and modern techniques developed in the last few decades,

some of which were invented by Wiles himself. It also took Andrew Wiles over 10 years

to find the proof - I was just hoping our genius engineer friend here could do better. :innocent:

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
