Hello visa journey people

This coming Friday 25th April will be 6 weeks since our petition was approved and we received our I -797.

I've been following other people timelines to work out our timings as Ive sold my home and I plan on leaving my job once I have the money from the sale. All of this is really quite stressful on its own.

Even up until last week the NVC said they had not received our petition, and that it can take 2 to 6 weeks.

What is your experience of this?

Also from receiving your NVC case number how long until you could book your medical and interview?

I'm starting to get a bit nervous now.

Thank you visa journey community

Nerves are normal at this stage now, as everything will quickly ramp up after sitting waiting for approval.

In my case, there was 26 days for NVC to receive my petition, and then a further month for it to reach London.

Once you have confirmation that it's at London, you will receive an LND case number. When you have that, you can look into booking your medical. For me, I called Visa Medicals in early November and they gave me an appointment on the 19th (they had sooner). When that was booked, I kept checking the interview booker on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv. I booked my interview for 1 week after my medical. You can book them whenever you have the time/money to do-so. They seem to release slots in 3/4 week chunks.

A word of warning: I had trouble getting the documents required for my medical. My GP practice didn't understand what I needed, kept sending me the wrong thing, not enough info, etc. People say you can access it all on the NHS app - this is only true if your GP surgery has already granted you access. It took me around a month to get what I needed from them, with a lot of pushy phone calls right up until days I was due to travel to London. Start working on this ASAP to avoid headaches.

Also, if you know of any vaccination boosters you will need, ask your GP what they can offer. I got a few through mine, so it was free. In the end I only had to pay for Heb B, Covid and Flu (although chance is Flu may not be applicable to you due to time of year).

Good luck!

There you go... give it a few weeks and then make another inquiry via the public inquiry form to NVC. I will give you the advice that I give everyone when communicating with the NVC. In the next request you send NVC, after you ask them for the case number, ask them to update the petitioner and beneficiary email addresses. Phrase it something like this:

"Also please update the email addresses for this case as follows:
Petitioner email address: xxxxx@mail.com

Beneficiary email address: xxxxx@mail.com"

Sometimes in the data entry of the I-129F petition into the Department of State systems, there can be typos, transcription, etc. errors. This will ensure that they have the right email addresses on file. I did this for me and Jaycel and both of us got every email along the way from NVC and the embassy all the way through the instructions on how to handle the yellow packet after her visa was issued. Best of luck to you both!

Just to clarify on this one, is it better to use the NVC Inquiry form, attaching the NOA2 or sending the email to NVC Research. I have been going the research route and the agent has told me for the last couple of weeks now that my petition has been recieved and just pending data entry into the system. I also included the request to update email in this last go around, but the agent to not say anything to confirm that it would be done. I just get the standard response back:

The National Visa Center (NVC) recently received your immigrant visa petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Your petition is now waiting for data entry into our systems.

As soon as your case is in our systems, we will send a letter with instructions. Then, if you still need help updating your case, you can contact us by using one of the methods listed on https://nvc.state.gov/ask .

For current processing times, please visit our website: https://nvc.state.gov/timeframes for English or https://nvc.state.gov/plazos for Spanish.

To make sure your private information stays protected, send future inquiries and attachments using the Public Inquiry form only.

So it sounds like the inquiry form is the way to go here and just being patient. I will continue to check in weekly.

The problem with going the email route is that NVC will not give you your case number if you inquire that way. The public inquiry form is the only route by which they will respond with your case number. Good luck to you both!
