No, we just filed for the K-1 visa for him. So much paperwork! We are waiting for approval now.

when he arrives on K1 ,  make appointment at SS office and get that SS #

don't wait for AOS as you need SS # to add him to bank, and many other things

I am in the process of getting married to an Irish citizen here in the U.S. but have found conflicting readings on the process to go through in order to allow him to work here. What is the step-by-step that we need to ensure that he is legally able to work after we are married?? I thought it was just: get married, apply for Adjustment of Status, apply for a social security number for him. But now, I am seeing that he needs an EAD before the green card. I am really confused. We want to be legal, but everything is so confusing to us. Thank you to anyone who can assist.

It's too bad that you didn't come here to ask these questions before filing... If being able to work soon after marriage is important, the CR-1 would have been a much better option. He will now have a long wait for the EAD, while with a CR-1 visa he would have been able to work immediately.

I agree with @Marieke H, but if you just recently filed, you may want to re-evaluate the benefit of the K1 vs a spousal visa.
