I have received my appointment letter for interview. Unfortunately my petitioner is retied and no more filing taxes. So i want to add a joint sponsor before my interview but there is no space on the ceac to add a joint sponsor since my case is at the embassy now. So what do i do now? Please advise.

The petitioner must complete an updated  I 864 for you to take with you to the interview .. along with all the required documentation. If the income of the petitioner does not now meet the requirements, then the petitioner must  arrange for a joint sponsor and send you all the required documentation as well  as the joint sponsor’s  I864.

But note .. It is the level of income that the petitioner has which is necessary for sponsoring.. Not having to file income tax is not the issue. What sources of income is the  petitioner using to live on?

The petitioner is living on social security

Then if the SS income  meets the 125% above the poverty line for household plus you, no joint sponsor is needed. But your petitioner must complete a new I 864 and provide  all documentation required including evidence of SS Income … and get that to you for the interview. When you are at the first stage of interview you need to  state  that  you have an updated I864 with you,  as your petitioners financial situation has changed since the initial one was submitted.
