It's really important, guys – can any professionals help me, please?

I had an interview and got refused. They asked for my CV, but I didn’t have it with me at the time. I’m not sure why the CV is such a big deal, but they gave me a green slip and a 221g, and said it was because of the CV. It just felt so odd......Also, I dropped off my CV today at Mail Boxes Etc. in Holborn. They just took it without putting it in an envelope – literally placed it in a drawer. I was so worried they might not even send it out. I asked for a receipt or some kind of proof, but they didn’t give me anything......Honestly, I’m really stressed – could someone please help me understand what’s going on?

and did the resume have not only your name but sponsor's name and SS # and  the case # ?

Requesting a CV can be part of the vetting process for any US visa.

Were you born in a different country than the UK?

What were the consulate's specific instructions for submitting your CV?  I agree with Jeanne, it seems that you dropped it off at a mailing place without a properly addressed envelope, so I'm not sure what they would do with that.

Is this for a fiance visa or a work based visa? Please clarify what kind of application you’ve made and as @SalishSea said, where were you born?

When they asked for your CV, how did they ask you to send it? Did you have it in an envelope with a courier label? Can you give us a copy of what you were handed at the interview (with any identifying details redacted).

Why didn't you put it in an envelope addressed to the embassy, like any other post? :S

Are you from the UK?

Did your interview instructions state to bring your CV? I had my interview only 6 months ago and nothing asked for my CV. Although I did actually take a copy in case I required supporting evidence of good character as I had a criminal charge from 2005, in any event, it wasn't asked for and I wouldn't have taken it if I wasn't contesting with a charge.

It was K1 visa, and I had the embassy instruction page with it with barcode.

Wow, really bad idea to just hand that off to a stranger with a copy of your CV, which I imagine includes your personal details like email, number, etc.

If you have to provide your CV to the embassy, you should post it properly in an addressed envelope and I would also include a cover letter detailing your name, case number, interview date, etc.

OP, is there a language barrier here?

I think you should return to the Mailboxes, etc and ask for your paperwork back.  Documents intended for the US consulate in London need to be mailed properly.  If they put it in a drawer, it's not going to get there.

You will not get the visa if you don't properly provide the documents requested.

I found an older post from someone who had a request for their CV, from London embassy:

OP's country of origin and/or education/emploment history (if TAL related) may have flagged a need for more detail.

I was never asked anything, presumably something specific.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
