Hello,

I am 33 years old male, single from Karachi. My interview is scheduled for 14th May at ISL Embassy. My priority date is June 2016 and I got DQ in Nov 2021. I just have few questions:

1. What documents do I bring? I am planning to bring

  1. Original Passport
  2. Original Police Certificate
  3. 6 2x2inch Passport Pictures
  4. Original Birth Certificate (Urdu)
  5. True English Translation of Birth Certificate
  6. Photocopy of latest filled I864 & the one from 2021.
  7. Photocopy of Sponsor's Citizenship
  8. Photocopy of sponsor's 2024's tax return & last 3 paystubs
  9. Printout of Interview Email
  10. Printout of DS260 Confirmation Receipt

(I wasn't given any envelope after medical test, so I don't have anything to take from medical)

Any thing else that I should take with me? Do these photocopies need to be certified? If yes, from where?

2. I am planning on giving my interview in Urdu. I can converse in English but I am not that confident and I am sure I will mess up due to being nervous. Will giving interview in Urdu hurt my chances?

3. Is there any dress code that I should be following? Planning on wearing a suit.

4. I will have my phone with me. I believe I can get a locker in the embassy. Is my assumption correct?

5. Any pointers or tips that you guys can give me? Any possible questions that they can ask me apart from my relationship with the sponsor (father)

Sorry for asking so many questions however I have waited 9 years and I don't want to mess anything up.

Thank you. I appreciate the help.

4. No, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan do not provide lockers or storage for personal items. Visitors are advised to make alternative arrangements for storing any personal belongings before arriving at the embassy or consulate.

your interview letter contained a list of needed documents / follow those instructions

2. you can interview in Urdu as comfortable but because you intend to live in the USA, it is best to do it in English if you can
3. Suit does show respect but you can dress more casual/ like dress pants and jacket
5.  you will more-than-likely be put into AP for security checks after interview as they do not ask you to provide criminal report as this country is poor at record keeping /  so, prepare yourself for long wait for visa

And good luck to you

Hi Shajee,

All the best in your interview I'm sure you'll be just fine and all the documents you've mentioned seem to be all checking alright.

I'm also F2B but different consulate (PD May 2016 DQ June 2021, Nairobi Embassy). Could you please share when you received your Interview Letter? Will greatly appreciate. Thanks

Thanks a lot for this bit of information. Good Luck

For the questions at the embassy, from the people I know who have gone through it, it usually is a case by case basis but it's nothing nerve wrecking. They mostly just try to establish your relationship with the petitioner. Most important thing is to try have all your documentation right to avoid further delays in AP.

God Speed.

From a document perspective you have everything covered.

Embassy in Islamabad doesn't have any lockers but you don't enter the embassy directly anyways. You enter thru a shuttle service which has parking and lockers and does a prescreening(passport + appointment letter) before you are let on the shuttle to go to the embassy.

Give the interview in English if you can. Wear a Suit make the best impression you can.
