Hey guys!
I didn’t apply for an SSN when I first came to the U.S., and now I have my green card interview in two weeks. The problem is, I don’t have any shared liabilities with my husband to prove our marriage — we can’t open a joint bank account or get a lease in both our names. What can I do except bringing the photos? Is that a big problem?

Yes.  You need evidence that you are actually living together as a couple.  Time to put on your thinking cap.  Ask yourself "How can I prove we are living as a couple"?

Letter from landlord

Personal affidavits from family or friends (normally weak evidence...but you have no choice)

ANYTHING showing you both living at the same address

Beneficiary documents (insurance, etc)

Healthcare proxy statements

Wills, trusts, etc.

I strongly suggest you start thinking about the evidence you will need for your I-751 in 2 years after you get through this Adjustment of Status interview.

Healthcare coverage

HIPAA release

Prenup

As many bills you can have assigned in your name to the residence as possible.  Many utility companies allow for co-tenants to be added without SSNs needed.  Have your husband update his accounts.  Print everything out.
