Hi guys and gals, I got a RFE to resubmit evidence for marriage certificate and birth certificate. I ran into a problem as scanning pictures became too dark, if I tried to adjust the color, the text becomes too faint.

Is it acceptable to take a picture with an iPhone then insert it to scanned pages? The background for scanned pages are obviously black and white but the photo taken page has slight variations. Will USCIS accept this?

I use the Notes feature but I do get a better finish using my printer.

iPhones have a scan feature in notes that should allow you to take a picture and convert to a PDF. We did that for a lot of our documents for similar reasons to you (though you’re farther along in the process than we are.)

Color vs black and white shouldn’t matter.

I scanned all of our documents on iPhone with the Scanner Pro app (which I highly recommend and it's free). Everything accepted, no RFEs. You can also import photos into the app to convert to pdf, which I did for photos of some documents my dad sent me.
