Not when you needed an expedited passport, so you wait over half a day to submit your application and then wait half a day for them to print it, only to realize they spelled your name wrong and they have to reprint it so you wait another 3 hours.  Yeah, I was supposed to get the large book but couldn't spend yet another 3 hours.

I'm not worried about it anymore because actually stamping passports is becoming increasingly antiquated.  More and more places are going to digital verification and e-gates.

Yes, stamping is becoming less and less common. Boo.

That's why I settled for the regular version; still, I intend to politely ask for stamps at international destinations. Apparently, every now and then, customs staff may oblige.

The major reason some folks need large book passports is if their travel pattern includes frequent visits to countries that still issue full page single entry visa stickers.

That is true. Considering it's no additional cost, I see no reason why somebody should go for a standard book. The timeline for producing both is the same, so is the cost. I'd rather get large passport book and use less pages than I need VS get standard and run out of pages, requiring to get new passport sooner (and pay fees again).

I had a standard passport from different country in the past. Used all pages and had to get large book from that country for additional cost about 3 years ahead of old passport expiration.

When you check passport status, you can subscribe for email updates.

Actually, what I was wondering was if they actually sent updates based on the email on the DS-11 or if you had to go get it yourself.  However, I  just got a notification.

21 April Oath

22 April Routine Passport applied for at the PO.

25 April received notification of receipt.

Got it! I subscribed to notifications of passport status page just in case.
