Hi all, I'm a little confused about my next steps here so hope you can help.

My husband has been living in the US in a shared house with roommates to save $$. Out of necessity, I listed his shared house's address on my DS-260 as my intended US address.

However, just two weeks ago we finally found an apartment (just for us - no roommates!) and signed the lease - he moves in tomorrow (exciting!) and I'll be joining him in just a few weeks.

Last week, I went to my interview at the London Embassy, which was successful. During the interview, I tried to notify the interviewer of our impending address change. The interviewer said that they do not need to be advised at the interview, but I do need to notify USCIS.

Now, I'm stuck. I don't have an USCIS account - it was in my husband's name, as he is my petitioner. USCIS has the wrong address - my husband's current/old address. I know they'll likely double-check which address I'd like my green card sent to at the border, but I don't particularly want to get into trouble for not notifying USCIS sooner.

  • Do I need to create a separate USCIS account? I don't yet have my visa in-hand so I don't have the A # or case number #.
  • Is it OK to just wait until I'm in the USA, then file the AR-11 by post?
  • What is the best course of action here?

Thanks in advance!

Notify the Customs & Border Protection Officer that does your inspection at your Port of Entry when you enter the US with the visa what the new address is. This will not be a problem
