vOiP telephone service

I want to cut my phone bills, but I need some input on skype /vonage etc. do their flat fees include the taxes? do you recommend and or like the service, hate it? or whatever???thanks! if anyone else knows of a good company let me know.

I use VOIP - it is provided for an additional charge by my Cable provider, Optimum Online.

I have found it to be an excellent value, and when used in conjunction with UPS's, can be an viable option during power failures.

My fiancee in India also uses a VOIP with a U.S. number - it helps keep our telephone bills manageable.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality of VOIPs.

Look at voicepulse.com they cost $15 per month total. All calls in U.S. included. You can choose one area code as home area so you only need to dial 7 digits. Tons of extras with no additional fees. In 2 + years I have NEVER had one dropped call. This was the 4th company I tried before stopping my hunt. I would put their quality up against any company out there. I have never been happier with my phone service and the price is unbelieveable. oh yes there is only federal excise tax added. That was recently added. They fought this tax / fee but lost. There are no other taxes or fees for their service and I have never had a price increase except for the fee. Prior to this I was paying $14 per month for no time limits or long distance limits.

I do not know about voip. What is it? But being on Long Island we use "Cablevision" for our TV, computer and telephone. On the phone from cablevision/Optimum we have international calling. $20 per month for 250 min to call anywhere in the world.

I'm a Skype user and think the service is great. I have never had any problems with the service, often the call quality has been better than using a landline. Has saved me a fortune on international calls.

So my vote is for Skype
