Hello all please forgive me I apologize in advance it’s a lot. So I got married in October 5, 2023 and I filed for my wife and submitted the I-130 on November 8, 2023 and I received a receipt that I had done so. I knew that I would have to file a 130a for my wife but it never prompted me to do that. I didn’t hear anything from Uscis until March 10, 2025 and I received a notification that they were requesting more items. When the notification came up on my portal I was unable to see what they were requesting until the letter was actually deliver to my home that took a week later. I couldn’t even see in writing what they were requesting on my Uscis portal. So they sent me a RFE that requested that I validate my U.S. citizenship, marriage certificate and the I-130a for my wife. So I had uploaded what I had to my portal that requested this information and noticed that I didn’t submit the “Cover Letter” and the affidavits. So literally the next day I attempted to resubmit this information in the portal and it was closed and I waited for Uscis to open and I called to ask if I could have another opportunity to upload these required documents. The person who I spoke to on the phone from Uscis had told me that they were unable to reopen the portal request that I sent the information to. Instead they told me that I could just fill out the I-130a along with the other documents and resubmit for review and it shouldn’t be a problem. As soon and I got of the phone with them I filled out the I-130a for my wife and gathered the other things such as the cover letter and the other required documents and mailed them at the post office. I was even triple verifying that I had written the correct destination that the RFE request came from so I wouldn’t cause a mistake and my documents get lost. My issue is I’ve been waiting so long and I had submitted those other documents minus the I-130a I even can see that I had sent my citizenship before when I uploaded my documents to the document section on the portal. Im

just a little nervous about all of this and I just don’t want to mess up and have to get denied and reapply again. Does anyone have any advice or anything they think I can do so help this situation. Thank you in advance!

If you followed the instructions on the RFE as directed, you should be OK, although it will take time.  It is not unusual for USCIS to ask for things already submitted.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
