Hello people!

My husband legally adopted my daugther in Florida, we have a court order. Her SSN has her new name on it.

But we CANNOT get for her US passport yet (only after 2 years since the adoption date).

So we'll have to apply for I-751 (ROC) soon for her as well but I'm struggling a little bit to find out if we can apply for ROC with her new name without going through the I-90.

Has anyone done this before? Specifically about legally adoption.

Thank you!

Yes you can. That said, legal name changes need to be documented (and she'll be ineligible for I-90 anyway). If you have a court order/certificate/decree of adoption, it typically would not have her *previous* name on it (only the new one), but it should have all the other relevant information like date and place of birth and that should be enough.
