Hello Everyone,

My wife and I want to visit her family in Moldova but her Moldovan passport has expired. Does anyone know if there is a travel document that will allow her to enter Moldova without having a valid U.S. or Moldovan Passport. I call USCIS about an I-131 but their anwser was unclear.

I would get the passport renewed before travel. http://www.embassyrm.org/en/cons-serv/new-passports.html

Have you filed for AOS? You need AOS pending for AP.

The embassy wants my wife to put a stamp about changing place of constant living in her passport, and she doesn't want to do this.

She is now living in the USA, what is the problem? You are adjusting status to a permanent US address.

Yup. You can't have it both ways. She needs a passport from her country of citizenship in order to travel internationally, so she'll have to abide by the rules of her country of citizenship.

A Warning to Green Card Holders About Voting

My wife's Russian passport was set to expire in July so back in March after she got her green card we immediately contacted the embassy in Washington and sent in her passport for renewal. We still don't have it back and it will be another month at least. Would have been better to travel back to Russia and have it renewed (pay the right people and get it done right away).

Perhaps it is possible to return to your home country on an expired passport, but I would check carefully first, and DO NOT leave the US without an AP or green card.

We did get a call from the Russian embassy also about changing my wife's registration of residence.
