Hello,

Has anyone applied Visa recently from Finland? i just came across that k1 visa interviews will take place in Sweden? I found this article and am i correct that the interviews will take place in Sweden?

Does anyone know has Stockholm lot of backlog etc? We received our NOA2 around a week ago, now waiting it to transfer.

Kinda suprised they just recently changed this. If anyone has information how the things work in Embassy in Sweden? Do they send packet, how to book appointment etc, i would be more than happy to hear it, since i have only searched how they handle things in Finland embassy. Nice to know things in advance :) thank you!

The U.S. Embassy in Helsinki, Finland will no longer offer routine immigrant visa services, as of December 2, 2024. The U.S. Department of State has designated the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, as the processing location for immigrant (immediate relative and family preference), fiancée/fiancé(K), V92/V93 (follow to join asylees/refugees), and Diversity Visa (DV) applications for residents of Finland. For more information, visit the following website. Individuals who were already interviewed at the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki will have their case processed to completion in Finland.

Yes, looks like you need to go to Stockholm for your interview.

I went through a similar situation with having to go to Frankfurt instead of Amsterdam.

You should be able to log in to ustraveldocs.com as soon as you have your case number from NVC and CEAC says “ready”. This website allows you to pay your fees and make your appointment.

The process will be the same as in any other embassy.

Reading is what? Fun-da-men-tal!

Thank you for your reply! I haven't yet to receive my case number from NVC, letter they told us to wait 30 days before contact there, so im still waiting that 😊

Do i receive letter from the embassy with my case number? And with information what i need to do next?

Try to enquire with the NVC after 2 weeks, they might have your case number by then.
You (the beneficiary) should receive a K1-FTP letter with more information on what to do next. You don't have to wait for it: If you have your case number and CEAC says 'ready' , you can start booking an appointment.
In my case, the US Citizen erroneously received that letter.

I am from Norway, but also interviewing in Stockholm.

Our case got sent to Stockholm last week, but after doing my DS160 I went on to pay and the site for Stockholm told me to wait for an invoice number or something, so I am waiting to see if I hear from them. The case only reached them Thursday, so it makes sense I have not heard anything.

NVC sent our case pretty much as soon as they were able to, so Stockholm seems like an embassy without a backlog. 😃

That sounds great! I think we haven't received our new case number yet, i think they told us to wait 30 days before reaching out!

It's been very hard to find any information from Sweden! Since there is not too many people who is applying the countries we are from!

Did you wait to apply your DS160 when your case was sended to the embassy? Or did you get notice from them that you can start filing it?

I kinda did things the wrong way around, I made an account with the payment/scheduling website and then the form asked me "did you do your DS160?" and I went... noooo?

So then I went and did that!

However this was all after nvc sent my case to Stockholm. I only had to wait 2 days for it to reach them/say ready so that is when I went ahead and completed the DS160. Today I got the letter from Stockholm, and it has only been 3 office/working days since it was set to ready so they move quickly over there. So by the time nvc sends your papers to them I would start the DS160. 😃 The scheduling website will tell you not to schedule your interview until you get the email though, but the DS160 takes a while (SAVE IT EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!!!!) so just get that done. A lot of it is the same as the i129f though, so pull that up for reference.^^

I wouldnt wait a month to ask NVC for the case number. I would ask for it politely next week. Just be sure to ask for the NVC number specifically, we sent them a mail they got confused by. XD But to be fair you dont actually need the NVC number, it just makes it possible for you to monitor progress. But the only thing that happens is that it reaches NVC and they send it to the embassy, and the embassy has post dates every 2 weeks so between when they get it and the post dates you will be checking it in vain. When they mail it you will get the FTP. But there is no harm asking for it early, just be polite and wait for them to respond to the first PI until you send another. 😃

Thank you for your answer! It's really nice to have someone in the same situation!😊

I'll ask my fiance to send them inquiry for the nvc number.

Have you already book your interview? Or do they send you appointment automatically?

Im excited for you! I hope my case move as fast as yours! It's been long wait 😊

You book your interview on the scheduling website i talked about, that’s also where you pay the fee. :)

I know how you feel, I haven’t found anyone in my shoes since we applied last august lol. Well some but they arrived in the usa last year so I didn’t know if things had changed at the embassy since december since they added all those countries.

What I have gathered though is that there aren’t a lot of K-visas coming through Stockholm, and that they only let you pick one day a week, last I heard it was mondays. But I’ll keep posting here to update on our journey so I can be helpful for future northerners. ^_^

Oh yeah true you said that!

I get it, i hope you get your interview soon! I hope they add more interview days, since they are dealing with more countries than just Sweden. And yes, would be great to hear how your journey is going!😊 i will also update you as how things are going on my journey!
