Hey all! I'm still working on assembling all the documentation to submit my K-1 visa packet. I'm at the point of compiling photos of us together with their descriptions.

The directions listed on visa journey are to lable the photos and place in a clear bag and attach to a paper. However, I feel that I have read forum discussions that say not to this. That tape, paperclips, and stables are a nuisance from the processors end and not advised.

I think I saw recommendations of assembling photos with descriptions and then making a quality color photo copy of this one page. Is this what most people are doing? Or what did you guys with successfully accepted applications do for your photo documentation of meeting and proving relationship?

We did the IR1 process, but that shouldn't matter. We scanned three/four photos on one page, created a PDF file, printed the page, handwrote our comments on it (next to each picture), and sent it along with the other documents to the USCIS. No problems, all successfully accepted.

We saved all the photos from airline bookings, boarding passes, Aribnb, hotel and restaurant reservations to first meeting photos and so on and so forth. We arranged them chronologically - dated with locations and name of other people on that photo if there's any.

We also took screenshots of our first convo, the most recent and some that mentions love, building life together, marriage plans etc. The "Search" function on each social media helped a lot lol :) We also took 3-6 video call screenshots ---- everything in a word document then printed them.

We printed the photos of us meeting in person and also screenshots of us on video call. Included text explaining how we met and time we spent together, and also a plane ticket stub. put it all in a folder and shipped it in an envelope.

Its best to include photos that show where you are, such as near a landmark, so its obvious the photo was taken in that country.

We just compiled it all in a google doc file. Wrote date and description on each page. It probably was not needed, but we did one page per meeting, and we had met I think 10 times at that point. If you do it like that it is a lot easier to do together, and if you have something on paper you can just scan or take a photo of it and insert it into the file.

Everyone above has given good advice.  We can add that a representative sample of photos covering your various visits and the duration of your relationship will suit nicely.

As those above have suggested, indicate who the people are, when you were with them, what was going on, et al. -- the idea is to give total strangers at the Consulate a good picture (pun intended) of the bona fide nature of your relationship.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I didn’t have any context or write anything on my pics, just a bunch of pics of us together over time

Ideally, context should be provided. After all, adjudicator is a stranger who never saw or met you. The most valuable pics are of couple with their relatives and friends. With more than 2 people on photo it becomes challenging to understand who is who.

I had travelled to visit my Fiance 2 times before the interview, and that is how we presented the photos, taped to 81/2 by 11 white pages with description typed at the bottom of each picture.  About 12 pictures in all and to be very honest, we really do not know fi they even looked at them.  This was at the Jakarta, Indonesia U.S. Embassy and they did not give us any issues in how they were presented.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

Next question, did you organize your documentation/application requirements in a folder? Like clear front folder with prongs? Again I feel I saw a discussion stating the processors don't want folders,  but without something like that how did you secure all your documents together?

And the passport size photos of each individual, did you put these in a clear bag or scan these in a document like the proof of relationship photos?

How long were your submissions? Like your letter of how you met. I had a friend advise me to keep it short, around a page long. I was as brief as I could be and it's about 2 pages long instead. And I have about 5 pages of photos, but could easily add more of us together. How much is too much. I don't want to over do it, but don't want to be too brief that it raises questions.

I'm sorry for all the questions 😅😂 Just getting close to being ready to send this out and trying to get all my ducks in a row and organized as logically as possible for smooth processing.

Thank you!

No folders.  Use a giant binder-clip for entire submission.  If too much, either pare down or use a couple of giant clips and surround everything with a rubber band.

Clear bag for passport photos.  You can shorten the letter of how you met.  Five pages of photos would be the maximum (maybe a page too long) for Lima.

It's natural to freak out a little at your stage, but you have permission to do so less intensely.  :)

Thank you!

what you should do is put everything together with a binder clip. no hole punches, no staples, no other bindings. something is easy for them to remove.

put them in a clear plastic bag. clip them to the front of the papers.

i believe ours was about 3 pages.
