My wife's 2 year green card expired last February and we received a 4 year extension letter. The I-751 was filed in November 2023. But not knowing when she will get her case processed and approved, I'm thinking we should file the N-400 now while waiting. We have been married for over 3 years and she never left the country and stayed in the same state since she came. Anyone has experience with this can share?

I suggest filing the N-400 as soon as she is qualified.  Our I-751 had been pending for 40 months when wife filed her N-400.  Four months later, both the I-751 and N-400 were approved during a combo interview.  Sometimes, the N-400 will push the I-751.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

We applied for my wifes I751 in April of 2023. As of January this year she still hadn't gotten approval. In Feburary we submitted her N400 online and her 751 was suddenly approved two weeks later with no interview. Might be a coincidence. I'd go ahead and apply for the N400.

I'm hoping her N400 is approved by June. They seem to be 4 to 6 months out. I'm still worried it'll be a I751 interview as well and will be prepared.

some times it works that filing n-400 pushed i-751 approval. no one knows cause USCIS is a blackhole
