Hi, I am an Indian national looking to tie the knot with my American fiance sometime in the future. We were initially thinking about a civil ceremony in mexico with friends and family present but based on the everything that the internet says about the process, getting a marriage certificate in mexico seems time consuming and complicated.

So my quesiton is should we go the online utah route and get married via zoom being in two separate locations, subsequently receiving the marriage certificate in the mail, and then meet in mexico for a get together ?

Having been hearing mixed reviews about how favourably USCIS looks at Utah online marriages.

I have not seen any issues with Utah, begs the question why involve Mexico?

its my fiance's dream to have some sort of celebratory event in Sayulita, Mexico since her father's side still has some family ties over there.

So, as long as we have all the essential docs to prove a bonafide marriage with utah license and marriage certificate, we should sail thru, right?  .

Honestly, if "its my fiance's dream to have some sort of celebratory event in Sayulita, Mexico since her father's side still has some family ties over there" then I would do that. I certainly wouldn't ruin my fiance's dream just to save what amounts to probably a little time for the immigration process.

Years back I had to go to a family wedding in Mexico, not that happy as it cost a bunch, we got there and found out they had found the paperwork issue too much a hassle, so they did the legal thing locally before they left.

I was NOT pleased.

I don't see why this is an OR situation and not an AND situation. Get married on Zoom Utah and then have a party in Mexico with a ceremony. Also, if you have a party, then I would only assume it looks better than only having the Zoom Utah marriage.

Yes, Utah marriage and Mexico Celebration with our without non-legal ceremony is a completely viable plan.
