We just received a request for initial evidence, a list of 5 pages...

Things that we already provided are on the list.

They are being extremely demanding

Anyone did it themselves or did you used a firm ? Is so, which one could help please.

I am Canadian from Montreal area and my fiancé is American

Also, if we cancel; wil I be able to go USA as a regular tourist after cancellation.

Thank you so much for help

Most folks here on VJ have done it themselves.  That being said, yes, often times USCIS or the Consulate (not sure what phase you are in) will ask for what amounts to duplicate evidence.  It might be helpful for you to share the RFE you received with personal information redacted to help you better (often letters are templated, and they are actually only requesting specific information).  If you end up not going through with the K1/I129F, it will not impact your ability to travel to the US, but there could be questions at the border since US CBP will be able to see you once had immigration intent.

Good Luck!

I had one like that demanding things like

full list of all relatives, < addresses, phone numbers

death notices for both fathers

copy of son's birth certificate (grown men in my case)

the list went on and on

schools he attended and where he learn English

affidavits from people attending the marriage and from those that couldn't

the  list goes on and on

i consulted an immigration lawyer who said "never seen a RFE like this"

i got all the documents together and mailed them in

getting together the documents is what u would do if you hired a lawyer ..  he would make copies and mail them in (and that's all he would do)

you still would do all the work

dont let the RFIE discourage you, its not uncommon.

as was already said, posting the letter with your personal information redacted would help us know exactly what it is they are requesting.

it might seem like a lot of pages in the letter but only one might have exactly what they want from you.

I would prepare yourself for this, and work on acceptance.  The vetting process for immigrating to the USA is strict... or will be stricter than perhaps it has been in recent history.

I suspect much of what they request, even if it seems redundant or useless, serves the purpose of allowing you to prove that you will capitulate to requests willingly.  It's speculative on my part, but makes sense if you have a particularly discerning USCIS agent.

Comply, and advance. Taking the stance that it isn't personal, but instead a process to earn a coveted right of entry to live in the US, will win you lower stress levels down the road.
