Hi all,

I have had my application arrive in the post today today from USCIS and received 4 I-797C's (one each for I-485, I-130, I-131 and I-765 and unfortunately it is saying that it has been rejected because of the following reason in relation to the I-485 below:-

The application/petition has not been fully completed. One or more of the following field(s) were not completed:

- Application Type

I have checked the copies of the AOS application a few times and I can't see where the issue is on the I-485 paperwork. It's the "only if applicable" sections that are blank.

Has anyone had this reason before? I know there have been some new updated forms the new administration have been preparing but looking at the USCIS site it says that they aren't enforcing that until 04/03/2025 (we used the most recent edition of the forms at the time of filing). Could there be a possibility that the person at the lockbox hasn't followed what is stated on the USCIS site? As the updating of the forms was while my application was in transit to the Chicago Lockbox.

Hope you can help!

if you came in on a K-1 visa why did you file the I-130?

the error would more than likely be from something done between page 5 to page 7 of the I-485

It was rejected because you filed an I130. K1s don't unless they marry AFTER 90 days.

I didn't file it. It was our lawyer who actually said by email prior to sending it that it wasn't required nor did I expect it to be sent. So I have no idea what has gone off there. The reason on the I-485 is listed as only incomplete fields in Part 2 which after checking again there is one or 2 fields. I have gone back to them and highlighted the errors.
