Depends entirely on the county involved and whether you have other red flags.

How did you get married then? Was that an online wedding? If yes and you haven’t met in person after the online wedding, you have to meet in person again in order for USCIS to acknowledge it for immigration purposes.

Only 1 meeting in 4 years doesn’t look great either way.

which embassy

It’s not an online wedding. She was here in Nigeria and we got married in 2021

Yeah, no chance for Nigeria. It would be tough for any consulate, but for a high fraud one you’d need much more time together. Not seeing each other at all for 4 years when you’re married would be a huge red flag.

As said above you’re not eligible until you’ve met in person after the wedding anyway too.

She must be able to take time off work. For the financial aspect then suggest she looks at sites like Skyscanner to find the cheapest flights. Or is meeting up in a third country possible maybe? It will probably end up more expensive as you’d have to pay for accommodation (I assume she’d stay with you if she came to Nigeria, so only the cost of the flight to find?), but it’s worth looking at just in case.

So work out another way to be together in person, then you can file. You’ll then be at least 3.5 years away from a visa (Nigeria has a big backlog), so you should plan another trip before interview too to give you more chance.

Good luck.

Lagos, Nigeria

So you married on your first and only meeting? That’s very tricky, especially for this embassy.

Any other red flags such as a large age gap?

She’a 50. I’m 36

With this age gap, married on first (and only) visit four years ago, no time together since then, and Nigeria (very high fraud country), your only hope for a successful visa process will be to spend much more time together, in person, before your wife files the I-130 petition and then after filing during the long 2-3 year process until a visa interview in Lagos.  Good luck!

That adds another red flag.  You need a LOT of quality time together.  Has your spouse thought about re-locating to Nigeria for a year or two?

Yes, that is not helping. Not saying it will be impossible, but it won’t be easy. Is she Nigerian too?
