Hi everyone,

My wife and I recently got married and are preparing to file the I-485 Adjustment of Status. I’ve come across conflicting information online: does she need a new medical exam with updated vaccination records? She previously had a medical exam during consular processing; does this exempt her? Also, do we need to submit any related documents with our application?

Thank you!

If her medical exam abroad during the consular processing was less than 1 year from the date you’re filing the I-485 then no, a new one is not needed. You should include a copy of her DS-3025 she received from SLEC in the filing package and call it out in the table of contents in your cover letter to remind them to look for the medical exam results from her yellow packet CBP sent them after her Port of Entry.

You can submit a copy of the DS-3025 with your I-485, but that is no guarantee that USCIS will not RFE for  I-693 medical exam.
