Hello everyone, my Fiancée and I have recently received our NOA2 (February 19th) We have not received any additional updates and our USCIS case number still only says “Case Approved”. Is this normal that it still has not been sent to the department of state? I know the physical NOA2 says that it was sent but I’ve read that this usually isn’t the case unless it updates on the case tracker? Does anyone know the next steps I can take or how long I will have to wait for a new update?

Yeah I’ve seen that suggest by people before but I’ve also seen people say that the case number never updates to “Sent to Department of State”.

"I've seen people"--where?  Here?  Link to thread.  The status change is universally applied through USCIS, and is the prompt to start checking status via NVC.

You can attempt to send an NVC inquiry at this time to request your case number.  Usually people send the first inquiry around 4 weeks but you're welcome to try.

Otherwise, make sure your fiancé has their documents in order: birth certificate, police clearance, etc.  Start saving for travel/wedding plans, as well as the impending medical.

First of all, no need to be rude or give attitude when you’re answering my question. Thank you for the advice in the second paragraph, however. We have everything in order and we are just curious if there’s any additional steps we can take because we clearly saw misinformation in other groups when it came to the case number status - which is why we wanted to post here in the first place.

Hi, I am also from the Philippines and my fiance received the NOA2 Feb 12 2025. Up until now were still waiting for the NVC number to be delivered.

Thanks so much for your comment. It’s reassuring hearing others approved around the same time haven’t received their’s too and that it isn’t just us. I hope you hear back soon!

I do understand all the worries and stress but just be optimistic about it. I experienced the same during the early months of us processing ours, and yeah I just happened to read your concern and notice were on the time.

I also notice just recently as well that our application has sent to the department of state for visa processing (using the USCIS Case Status check tool)
The exact thing says in there is:
On March 7, 2025 we sent your case, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXX, to the Department of State for visa processing.

Hi,

You can submit a public inquiry as early as 2nd week from NOA2 receipt to get the case number. I remember sending PI every 2 days. Hahaha. My friend found a trick that seemed to work for others.

They submitted the public inquiry Friday Manila 6pm which is technically Friday morning in the US. First hour shift of caseworkers hehe so your inquiry goes on top of the list and will likely get a response sooner than 48 hours.

Sharing NVC shipment dates. The dates in yellow are the dates NVC ship files to the embassies.

Rooting for In Transit soon for everyone! 🙂

Hi, as for ours, we received NOA2 on Jan 17 and the USCIS case tracker app status was changed to Case was Sent on Feb 6. It was just yesterday, Mar 11, that we (specifically the petitioner's email but was addressed to me, the beneficiary) received notification from NVC that they sent our case to U.S. Embassy in Manila along with an attachment containing our case number starting with MNL. We celebrated this by eating ice cream.
