Hey all...

Rather incredibly (never thought it would be that quick), my green card was in the mail today. I was delighted... until I spotted that my middle name is spelled wrong on the damned thing. They've added a letter (my middle name is Peta, and someone obviously thought it would look better as Petra)... great!

Right... I suppose I need to send off an I-90, don't I? Which means god knows how many more months of waiting for them to fix it and send me a new card. Great! I suppose a misspelled middle name isn't the kind of thing I can just pretend I never noticed, is it?! :(

What happens in the meantime... I mean, I suppose I'm still a permanent resident, but how do I go about doing things like applying for jobs, etc etc? My EAD was approved the day after my AOS, but I doubt I'll actually be getting an EAD card (will I?) and even if I do get one, surely I can't use it anyway, because I'm a PR now... sigh. So does that mean I need to wait for the new card... or not?!

Oh, and another thing... stupid question, but when I finally do get a new card, it will have the original expiry date on it... right?

Is there anything else I need to do? Get a copy of it to show that I am a permanent resident... what?

So pissed off about this... gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! (Yeah, I know I got approved super-quick, but I wasn't expecting this to happen... I'd much rather have waited longer and have them do it properly!) :crying:

I am also in the same position like you. They sent me a 10 yr card instead of a 2 yr card. I was planning to go to the office here and get a stamp before I send off the green card with the I-90.

Sorry about that!

Thanks, Dev... just reading through that monster thread now.

I'm so confused... ugh! Can't work out where to mail the damned form to (have been informed by the misinfo line on each of the three calls I've made this afternoon that I should send it to the NBC... but the form instructions on the USCIS site say to send it to the service center where the last processing was done on the case... it says to find this info by looking at the envelope the green card came in, by looking at the notice that came with it, or the original receipt... however, my original receipt is (obviously) from the NBC, the notice with the green card is from CSC and the envelope itself is postmarked from some other place entirely - wherever it is that the cards are produced, I suppose! Oh, and the actual instructions with the form have some address in Los Angeles - the form seems to be a 'revised' one. So I have no idea at all, and am trying to choose between CSC and MSC.... or this mystery LA lockbox.... wondering which is the best bet!)

Gaaaaahhh!! Did I say that already? Yes, I believe I did! Damn it all... don't want to send my lovely new green card straight into the black hole of USCIS processing. Maybe I'll just change my middle name! ;)

Oh... and the form instructions also go on about preparing 'another' form I-90. ANOTHER? How many of the damned things do they want me to send in...?!

They put middle names on Green Cards? Mine only has the middle initial.

The bit at the top where it says 'Name' just has my surname, first name and middle initial... but at the bottom there's a load of numbers etc.... my A#, my MSC receipt number for my AOS, then a load of other gibberish (very important numbers, I'm sure|*).... then on the very bottom line it says:

Surname<Firstname<Misspelledmiddlename<<<<<<<<

Mmmm, I'd just love someone to tell me I don't need to bother about this. I'd rather pretend I never even saw it.... do all green cards not have that on them, then?!

* edited to say that the other 'gibberish' numbers are, on closer inspection, my date of birth & the card expiry date!

Nope mine only has my middle initial down there too. Could be because my middle name has 10 letters in it perhaps.

Hmmm.... if they'd buggered up any of the other stuff down there (A#, receipt number, ANY of it apart from my name), chances are I'd never have even spotted it. Sooooo reluctant to let my lovely (slightly error-y) new green card go with no clue when I might see a replacement! Maybe I should just change my middle name to Petra as of this moment. Nah, I don't want to be named after a Blue Peter dog...

Soooo grumpy about this - looks like it'll take infinitely longer to correct than it did to get the bloody thing in the first place (which, granted, wasn't very long!)
