Hi all,

Me and my wife are currently in the process of deciding where to go for our honeymoon this summer. So far we have Alaska, Florida (Orlando, Tampa, Miami and Florida Keys), Hawaii (not decided on which island we would want to go to yet) and Wyoming on the list to choose from.

Has anyone been to these places for their honeymoon at all? Or have any recommendations that I haven't mentioned?

Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Hope you can help!

Wife and I "honeymooned" in the FL Keys, because we live in FL and I have a house in the Keys.

If you are not used to heat and humidity the Keys, and actually anywhere in FL will be a lot to tolerate.  Many people from "up north" think the summers in FL are unbearable.  We like it, but we live here.  Expect oppressive humidity and daily afternoon thundershowers.

I would probably suggest Alaska or Wyoming.

We like Hawaii.  My preference is Hawaii Island (the Big Island).  It feels more authentic and less touristy than say Oahu.  We usually stay on the way less touristy Hilo side, but plenty to see and do on the Kailua-Kona coast.  The last time I was there, I coffee tasted across the island.  It was lovely :)

That's very cool that you have a house in the keys. My wife is used to warm weather and would like to go to Disney but I will admit that I am not the best when it comes to heat and humidity haha

Thank you for your advice

Thank you for your recommendation. Would you say a week or 2 weeks is best there? It's interesting because each island looks great in their own way which makes it hard to choose between them haha

Hawaii = expensive.

Florida = mosquitoes (the State Bird).

Wyoming = worth visiting (must do so myself).

Alaska = highly appealing, but don't risk mechanical trouble forcing your plane down in Canada unless you have travel authorization.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We were going to do Wyoming last August but then had my K1 Visa interview so we had to change our travel plans

Thank you for your advice

We are in the Keys for close to a week every month now.  Went down a week ago Wednesday and stayed thru Sunday.  Weather was great!  Going back down in three weeks.

Disney in the summer is a hard NO for me.  Besides the heat and humidity and thunderstorms, who wants to wait for an hour in line for each attraction surrounded by thousands of school kids?  Go to Disney in late fall or winter when kids are in school.

Maybe the wife and I are just getting to be old and grumpy....

We did Disney once back in the Covid days and except for having to wear a mask, the lines were not to bad since they were limiting numbers in the park.  That being said, Disney for us was a one and done, if you want to do it, do it in the Winter, but not for a honeymoon.  I would also put a plug in for Wyoming, but the wife and I are big hikers and loved Yellowstone and Grand Tetons.

Have fun!

My wife's idea of hiking is walking from Saks Fifth Ave store to the Louis Vuitton Store.

The Keys sounds great! It's great that you get to go so often!

My wife said the same thing as you regarding Disney last night actually when we were discussing it a bit more in detail. Her brother is there at the moment.
